First and foremost, I know that will be getting a telling off by many of you when you see what my partner and I ordered at Sekinchan Catch.
It was a Saturday evening, a gloomy evening and it was drizzling. So why not have a fuss free dinner near where I work. Eh. We almost always eat near where I work hah...hah...
Business is good. The place was bustling and luckily for us we managed to get a table. It was small table set for two and after we placed our order (which the lady remarked is a lot of food), she had to remove the cutlery container and condiments to make way for our dishes.
Now. Sekinchan CATCH. Teochew SEAFOOD. What did we eat?
Braised duck.
Bittergourd with roasted pork.
Stir fried mustard greens.
Hello. Where is the seafood?
Got lah.
Fish fillet fried with ginger and spring onions. Haiz... That's simply us wahahahaha....
Then another evening, we made our way to Teo Chew Lor@The Starling, which is under the same management as Sekinchan Catch.
We actually had another visit earlier but somehow my post disappeared after I clicked publish (found!). Haiz... Never mind. We roughly ate the same thing (typical).
Don't worry. I plan to visit Sekinchan Catch again (I hope my brother is reading this). And maybe there will be more seafood on the table hah...hah...
So how did you and your partner like the food served by both eateries? Lucky you ordered Teo Chew Lor food at Sekinchan Catch because I suspect Sekinchan Catch's soup noodles may be "bland" for you, not flavourful enough. The Fish fillet fried with ginger and spring onions looks good, I like this dish.
ReplyDeleteWe thought the food was all right. I was tempted to order the fish soup at Teo Chew Lor but did not. I will give the soup noodles a try and see if it is as bland as what you said hee..hee..
DeleteHai LL.... I nampak menu dia biasa biasa aje .... tak berapa menarik tapi tak taulah kalau rasa dia tip top! Tip top ke tidak?
ReplyDeleteItu lah, LL ni bukan peminat seafood pon. Kaki makan ayam hah..hah... asyik ciken kalau ada dalam menu.
DeleteOoooo...duck!!! I want!!! I wonder what fish they use, RM28. Things sure look a lot more expensive over there.
ReplyDeleteThe dusk is not bad. Expensive? Yes, that's why the prices in Sibu give us a shock over here hah..hah...
DeleteBraised duck and roast pork with bitergourd for me. Sky looks gloomy over here in sg too. It has been raining continuously over the past few days.
ReplyDeleteThe monsoon season is here. When it rains, there will be traffic jam over here.
Delete*bittergourd
ReplyDeletehaving never been to sekinchan, i should head to this restaurant for a convenient way to see what i've been missing! :)
ReplyDeleteYou might find better fare in Sekinchan itself!
DeleteHmmm, it's not possible to have a post missing after you press 'publish'. I think you could have mistyped the publish date so the post got published based on a previous date. It has happened to me before when I accidentally pressed publish instead of save and it got published based on the date the post was created (which would be some weeks or even months back). You can make a search for it in blogspot. Just go to All Posts and do a search function on the possible post title (in your case it'd be possibly Teo chew Lor) and you'll probably find it stuck between some of your old posts. Good luck on finding it! :) P/S: You're right, when I saw the word 'Sekinchan', I was already expecting to see some seafood...hahaha! ;D Based on the portion sizes, the prices aren't that cheap either.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! Will try to search the post. Yup, very pricey even though we did not go for the seafood.
Deleteu working on Saturday evening? that's really a sumptuous Sat dinner, sort of 'weekend feasting'! It's 'shiok' when u and partner know how to enjoy food & try out new places/food without having to convince many times. Simply save time & effort to decide what/where to eat.
ReplyDeleteI actually enjoy working on Saturdays because nobody kacau me and I can work better. And of course having a dinner date with my partner makes up for the "lost" weekend.
DeleteThese dishes can go with Teochew porridge as well... I like them all!
ReplyDeleteMy partner is a porridge man, not me LOL!
DeleteI thought they serve seafood porridge or noodles when I passed by this place.
ReplyDeleteThey do serve seafood noodles. Not too sure about porridge.
DeleteI went to dine at this Sekinchan and Teochew Lor several times but never ordered so many dishes like you! Yours was like a wedding banquet meal for just 2 of you! Muahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteI like the fish dishes at Sekinchan as they were very fresh.
LOL! I should try more fish or prawn dishes from there.
DeleteI like the dishes you ordered. As long as you can finish, it is ok to order more.
