Restoran Foods Punch, The Starling

I finally visited Restoran Foods Punch and this is not my first visit.

I believe this is a China restaurant and "Foods Punch" is likely a direct translation from Mandarin.

The interior is very neat and clean.

Ordering is via QR code and service is efficient.

This restaurant features rice bowls topped with a selection of toppings. You can also add on side dishes.

There are also sets that comes with a drink (either bottled water or Coca Cola).

I became wiser after my initial visit, so I went for the set.

My choice was the Stir-fried Pork with Chili Peppers. There are many more choices when you look at the menu (which I will share at the end of this post).

The standard side dish is soup and crunchy chickpeas. These are refillable (including rice).

This is the refill counter.

The soup is all right, nothing outstanding. It tastes sweet, perhaps from the sweet corn and carrots.

The crispy chickpeas are addictive. A very good snack and I loved these.

This is the back part of the restaurant.

There was a plaque on the wall.

I regret I am not able to read this.

Ah! My bowl. Looks good, eh?

It is a deep clay bowl with plenty of rice.

The pork is stir fried with green capsicum and there are also slices of cili padi that make this dish fiery. The cooking is very similar to Luck Farm's. Very tasty!

Now, what's with this wooden pestle? What am I supposed to pound?

I set it aside.

I stirred everything up in my bowl. Rice portion is very generous. The meat portion is modest.

I felt the heat from the cili padi. I think you can request for less spicy if you cannot tolerate spicy hot food.

I put the chickpeas into the rice for a nice crunch.

Oh, I had an add-on, Spicy Chili and Century Egg.

Obviously you have to be a century egg fan to appreciate this dish. It had a creamy (or maybe slimy) mouth feel.

I don't know what they added to this dish, I am guessing fish sauce as there is a fishy (in a good way) undertone.

Although I love century egg, I am not a fan of this dish but I am glad I tried it.

It has a scary look, very Halloween hah..hah...

Overall, I love the rice bowls here. There are also non-spicy options and noodles too.

Here is the menu which I screenshot from the digital menu.

I find that I quite enjoy the food at Restoran Foods Punch and this post was my third visit. I can foresee myself coming back for more.

  1. Thanks for the answer to your mystery dish. I like century eggs but I won't be able to tahan the chili so I don't dare to try this dish. 🥶

  3. Lol on the pestle. Definitely not for you to 'punch' on something. Creative rice bowl idea. Haha.
