These days, pigs are bred to be lean. I don't like skinny pigs. Pigs should be fat, as nature intended them to be.
Fatty pork belly is hard to come by, at least at Hanks, where I do my porkie shopping.
I placed the strip of pork belly on the perforated tray and the whole thing sits on the pyrex cover. Neat, eh?
The the whole thing goes into the air fryer at 180C for 16 minutes.
The fats and liquids drip onto the pyrex cover. I ran out of garlic or else I would have placed a few cloves under the tray. I should also try sliced onions.
Oh, Hanks pork belly also not much fat ah? Hehehehe, so weird, pork belly is supposed to be layers of fats within layers of lean meat.
ReplyDeleteWah, your strip of pork belly looks so filling. π From pork belly lovers
Sometimes they have fatty ones. I cannot understand why anyone would want to eat skinny pork belly LOL!
DeleteYour second piece of pork belly was leaner and I like the proportion of lean and meat, not too lean with thin layer of fat. :)
ReplyDeleteGood balance but I prefer more fat hah..hah...
DeleteI like your first piece of pork belly, the fats got me drooling :P
DeleteYes pork should be fat with some oils and not too dry. That day I chose pork belly for my chap fan dishes, the fatty part was ok but the lean part was so dry and so tasteless, yikes!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, dry lean part is a no no for me!
DeleteLucky that you bought a perforated tray that so happens sits nicely into your pyrex cover. ^_~
ReplyDeleteYes, lucky me!
Deleteyea, i like fatty pork too! yummeh!
