Sunday Wings

I am now on a chicken wings craze. I mean, they are very tasty and so easily put together.

Simply toss them in a marinade and then just bake in the oven. So at Aeon I picked up two packets of chicken mid-wings. As for the marinade, I just simply used what I had in the fridge.

One tablespoon each of Season All Seasoned Salt, smoked paprika, light soya sauce, some pepper and about two tablespoons of melted butter.  Just stir the marinade to combine and pour over the wings.

Then using my hand, I just mixed everything together. This would have been better marinated overnight (add melted butter just before baking) but I did not have the time. I just let it stand for 30 minutes. Then it was off to the oven at 200C for 35 minutes (flip the wings after 20 minutes).

They turned out very nice. I loved the smoky flavor and aroma imparted by the smoked paprika.

I saved the wings for later.

Then I had another go at steaks.

The sirloin was a tad overcooked, I got it to medium instead of medium rare because it was a thinner slice compared to the ribeye.

The ribeye turned out very nicely medium rare.

I also sauteed some sliced onions and garlic for added enjoyment.

So that was my meaty Sunday. Just in case you were wondering, no, I don't eat two steaks in one sitting all the time. It so happened that Sunday was my OMAD and I thought I had better tank up and not get hungry later in the day. And it worked. The wings were saved for today's dinner.

Just to share, when I watched Maggie White's interview with Dr Anthony Chaffee on Youtube, I thought she looked awfully young for an 82 year old. Her voice and demeanor also reflected someone who is much younger. And then Dr Chaffee went to Canada to visit her and he verified her birth certificate and all to prove that she is indeed 82 years of age.

I bet it is a combination of her diet (no processed junk food) and the physical activities associated with cattle ranching that has helped her to maintain a good physique, robust health and youthful looks.

Let's see how I look when I am 82 (if I can live that long) hah..hah....

  1. They sell mid-wings there? So good! We are not really into those dummets, like breast meat, and the tips just get thrown away eventually. What a waste!

    1. Oh yes, they do. I also dislike drummetes, so dry and not nice.

  3. I tried to look for just the mid wings at the Aeon near me but don't have. Your ribeye looks quite lean...I like...and added onions and garlic, I always approve (good to see you having some veggies with your meat though they're only for flavour)....lol! :D

    1. These mid-wings are the Lacto chicken ones because the normal Aeon ones were not available. LOL! One day I will add in broccoli.

    1. That's the only part of the chicken that I enjoy now. Once in a while I will get chicken thighs.

  5. I like the way the chicken wings are marinated, I don't have much sauces in my house... so mine is a very simple marination if there is such a word! The beef really do look medium rare, mine is medium well with no pinkish...

  6. Last night I went to eat at IKEA after years of hiatus. I saw their menu serving chicken wings which was tasty looking like yours! So many people ordered but I had to skip because I was alone and the serving was too big for one. Funny thing is I always love drummets more than wings.

You know what?? You have some resemblance like Maggie White! Young and alert looks.
I think the social media should change the public thinking that carnivores diet is not healthy and causes cancer. That was what I got brainwashed since young that eat less meat is healthy. Cheh!!

I want to be like Maggie White!

    1. Next time your order and then take home what you can't eat. Can reheat in the over/air fryer.

Aiyoyo what a nice compliment! We have been mislead all this time. Everyone must take the initiative to learn new information and not be stuck with the old incorrect ones which are doing harm to our health. Meat especially red meat is very nutritious. Yes, I also want to be like Maggie White!
