Before that I did some tidying up and set up a fresh litter box for my kitties. Then I washed the litter box that I emptied.
By now the people at Feast Market know that I am very OCD and I will send them a friendly reminder early in the morning. I appreciate punctuality and they delivered.
After stuffing everything into the freezer, I made my way to my brother's house. I found Mum unwell with fever. She was weak and clearly exhausted from nursing dad.
I was very sad to see her in that state. Dad was fine, he is well looked after but taking care of him has taken a toll on mum. While I was there, both of them fell asleep and I kept them company while they rested.
Later I helped to boil some eggs (I am so hopeless, the soft boiled eggs became hardboiled) and made breakfast for dad. Mum forced herself to eat just the egg yolks before taking Panadol. Then she went to rest. I told her to sleep as much as she can so that she can recover.
I hope that she will be better after resting. The time may come for me and my brother to find a solution to this situation. It is really sad to see my parents weak and helpless.
But life goes on and I had to leave for work. As usual, before I get into the office I went for lunch at you-know-where.
So it was straight to the office after the fatty feast to work so that I can pay for my next meal, so to speak hah..hah..
What's for dinner?
Some kind folks recommended this affordable hourly nursing service in their comment to me. I wonder would you all consider it to lessen the load on your mother. www dot nursesathome dot my
ReplyDeleteThanks for the site, it's definitely something to look into.
DeleteAiyor, I see all the meat in your post and now I am very hungry. That duck meat looks so delicious! When I saw your tomahawk steak I also think how to cook and then I read you are also thinking of how to cook it.
ReplyDeleteI have to do some research on Youtube on how to cook a tomahawk at home. I hope I don' mess up. LOL!
DeleteWhen you said tomahawk for your birthday, I thought you meant going out with your brother for a tomahawk meal. I didn't know you meant you'd be buying one to cook yourself...but looking at the price tag you got it for, it's definitely a lot cheaper (I think it'll cost at least RM500-RM1k if someone cooks it for you! >.<). You're very brave to attempt to cook it yourself as the bone part is not easy to get cooked (lying flat in a pan). I think the restaurants use a flame torch for that. Well, I'm sure we'll get to see your finished product in a post later....hehehe! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou will either see an awesome tomahawk or one of my cooking disasters. LOL!
DeleteOooo...I would love the braised combo too! We can hardly find duck here! So sad.
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty good that day, better flavors compared to the previous time I had it.
DeleteSorry to hear your mom is unwell, hope she recovers soon! I can understand pretty well how difficult it is to look after the unwell esp he/she is our love one.... yeah, life is like a cycle, it has to go on.
ReplyDeleteComing back to the food, I have never heard of tomahawk until now! hahahaa... I am really outdated when it comes to steak... yes, pamper yourself with whatever you can afford, I always say that to myself... eat and enjoy while we still can!
My mum is better today though she is not fully recovered yet, thanks. I am just like you, eat while we can and enjoy!
DeleteWow!! You are someone who could invest money on quality meat instead of designer goods. I first heard of Tomahawk Missiles while I was a US student and they were used during the Gulf Wars. Now Tomahawk meat will get inside the birthday girl's tummy! It will be a big celebration ๐๐๐
ReplyDeleteOh dear, poor mummy is exhausted. I hope you will request for the Hospice visits, so that mummy's worries would be lessened and your dad's condition would be monitored by them almost daily.
Tomahawk missiles LOL! I put most of my money in my mouth.
DeleteI want to but my mum was not very receptive towards the idea. Maybe I need to approach the subject again.
I'm okay with fat meat but also depends on how it is cooked. I like it is braised / fried till the fat can literally melt-in-your-mouth texture, which it doesn't make you feel "jelak" when eating it.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean. I am ok with solid fats hee..hee...
