Fatty Friday

This morning I waited for my meat delivery to arrive before visiting my parents.

Before that I did some tidying up and set up a fresh litter box for my kitties. Then I washed the litter box that I emptied.

By now the people at Feast Market know that I am very OCD and I will send them a friendly reminder early in the morning. I appreciate punctuality and they delivered.

Today's order were 4 pieces of Black Angus sirloin. And a birthday present to myself - a Tomahawk!

Now I have to figure out how to cook this thing in my kitchen.

After stuffing everything into the freezer, I made my way to my brother's house. I found Mum unwell with fever. She was weak and clearly exhausted from nursing dad.

I was very sad to see her in that state. Dad was fine, he is well looked after but taking care of him has taken a toll on mum. While I was there, both of them fell asleep and I kept them company while they rested.

Later I helped to boil some eggs (I am so hopeless, the soft boiled eggs became hardboiled) and made breakfast for dad. Mum forced herself to eat just the egg yolks before taking Panadol. Then she went to rest. I told her to sleep as much as she can so that she can recover.

I hope that she will be better after resting. The time may come for me and my brother to find a solution to this situation. It is really sad to see my parents weak and helpless.

But life goes on and I had to leave for work. As usual, before I get into the office I went for lunch at you-know-where.

Today I was glad that the char siew and siew yoke were fatty.

Not only that, the duck breast was moist and succulent.

Look at the fatty layers.

I know some of you dislike fatty meat.

Nyum!

So it was straight to the office after the fatty feast to work so that I can pay for my next meal, so to speak hah..hah..

What's for dinner?

Teochew Lor's Braised Combo. This time no one batted an eyelid. They know I can eat.

  2. Aiyor, I see all the meat in your post and now I am very hungry. That duck meat looks so delicious! When I saw your tomahawk steak I also think how to cook and then I read you are also thinking of how to cook it.

  3. When you said tomahawk for your birthday, I thought you meant going out with your brother for a tomahawk meal. I didn't know you meant you'd be buying one to cook yourself...but looking at the price tag you got it for, it's definitely a lot cheaper (I think it'll cost at least RM500-RM1k if someone cooks it for you! >.<). You're very brave to attempt to cook it yourself as the bone part is not easy to get cooked (lying flat in a pan). I think the restaurants use a flame torch for that. Well, I'm sure we'll get to see your finished product in a post later....hehehe! ;)

  5. Sorry to hear your mom is unwell, hope she recovers soon! I can understand pretty well how difficult it is to look after the unwell esp he/she is our love one.... yeah, life is like a cycle, it has to go on.
Coming back to the food, I have never heard of tomahawk until now! hahahaa... I am really outdated when it comes to steak... yes, pamper yourself with whatever you can afford, I always say that to myself... eat and enjoy while we still can!

  6. Wow!! You are someone who could invest money on quality meat instead of designer goods. I first heard of Tomahawk Missiles while I was a US student and they were used during the Gulf Wars. Now Tomahawk meat will get inside the birthday girl's tummy! It will be a big celebration ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

Oh dear, poor mummy is exhausted. I hope you will request for the Hospice visits, so that mummy's worries would be lessened and your dad's condition would be monitored by them almost daily.

    1. Tomahawk missiles LOL! I put most of my money in my mouth.

I want to but my mum was not very receptive towards the idea. Maybe I need to approach the subject again.

  7. I'm okay with fat meat but also depends on how it is cooked. I like it is braised / fried till the fat can literally melt-in-your-mouth texture, which it doesn't make you feel "jelak" when eating it.
