Covid-19 : MCO Day #24 (Tomato & Eggs)

Haiz....it looks like we are locked in until 28-04-2020 (barring any, God forbid, further extensions). Did I hear anyone screaming after our PM's announcement today?

Me, I was sort of prepared to face another two weeks at home although I do wish to get back to work. Why? Because it affects fee collections and also I don't look forwards to the going-back-to-work-blues that I know will happen  the longer this drags on hah...hah....

So anyway, let's be positive and look on the bright side, OK? Today I cooked a dish that I thought would not taste nice. Stir Fried Eggs and Tomatoes.

It was surprisingly good.

Then I stir fried some long beans with garlic, salt and turmeric powder. Sedap!

And because I terlebih rajin today, I also cooked fried rice using brown rice.

Ah...Let me share a story about my attempt at buying vegetables online. I won't mention the name but you can read about the supplier here. Mrs Ninja had a good experience and so did many people on FB. But not me.

I placed my order on Monday before 8:00am hoping to get same day delivery since the supplier is in TTDI, very near my home. The email confirmation said to expect delivery between Monday and Tuesday.

Come Tuesday, still nothing. So I attempted to contact via the mobile phone/email provided on the website. No response. Then I left a message on FB. Still no response. Incensed, I wrote a review, in an honest to God manner (you get the drift).

A kind soul who faced the same predicament shared a mobile number and a name which I contacted and received a response. She assured me she would check. After a few ding-dong-ding-dong I finally received my consignment on Thursday.

The package I chose consisted of the following :

It's a lot for me, so of course I shared lah.

Overall the quality was all right except that the long beans were a bit old and there were some ladies fingers that were not in good condition.

My partner said that's to be expected of online purchases.

Seeing that the MCO has been extended, I will have to start relying on online purchases because even when you go out to the shop/supermarket, you might not be able to get what you want. I will look for other alternatives.

Yesterday, my partner went grocery shopping and Aeon was out of garlic. Luckily I still have enough garlic to last for a few more days. Even the buy-5-get-1-free Whiskas cat food was out of stock.

So Daddy got her these individual packets.

Thank you Daddy!

Today fatty pulled a stunt in the garden.

Relax only...

Posing like a bikini model...

I tried to get her to exercise.

Her idea of exercise is Mommy waving that cat toy in front of her like a lunatic.

She will grab hold of the feathery thing.

No, she won't get up to give chase.

She just rolls around on the floor. Haiz...

  1. My experience with online shopping for groceries was a hit or miss thing. Luckily my area got a few small shops selling some fresh groceries so I had to walk around to see if they have some supplies.
Your cat loves playing with you.

    1. Unfortunately for me there are no small shops within walking distance. I will try other suppliers online.

  3. Oh, I know where you bought because I read the same post by ninja house wife but my house is too far away and delivery fee is RM25. This one is to help farmers so they don't ensure the vegetables are all nice so ok la, half charity lor. I think they miss out on your order because ttdi is so near to 1u, how can take so many days? delivery is free for you, right? since so near.

  5. My kids will sure have blues when schools are opened. I myself dread that day. Lol.

Tomato and egg are the best. I cook this almost every week. Only me and hubby enjoy it. Kids hardly touch it. Maybe I will add lady's fingers in next round

    1. Perhaps many will experience blues when they have been so relaxed for so long. LOL!

  6. I was also given a few contacts for online vegetables but didn't use any of them. Most were selling a set of vegetables (5-6 types) for RM30 or RM35 a set. Didn't like the idea of preset vegetables, not knowing their condition and the thought they could be a little pricier discouraged me to buy online. I'm lucky as there's a dedicated shop in my housing area I can buy from without having to visit crowded supermarkets. P/S: I can't cook eggs with tomato as tomatoes is another food item my family don't eat. P/S: That's a whole lot of long beans! So I guess you'll be making a lot of stir-fry long beans, long bean omelette and fried rice with long beans, am I right?

Those feathery toys you wave at cats, they like to play with it that way...catching and rolling! ;) If you want your cat to run around, you have to get a laser pointer and they'll chase after the light dot. P/S: The pic of Girl rolling on the floor really exposes her fat tummy...kekeke! :D P/S: I'm having difficulty buying Cookie's brand of wet food online (but Whiskas 5+1 is easily available from Shopee).

    1. Luckily I love long beans and don't mind long beans for a few days hah..hah...

I thought the cats are supposed to chase the toy. She did jump up and run initially and then she just ignored me >.< I have a laser pointer and I'll try that. Ah..I should try Shoppee! I should have stocked up more. Did not occur to me that cat food will also face shortage.

  7. Yes, that was the 1st impression I got - the long beans old and dry looking. The calamansi lime looks nice and green though. Bought a lot yesterday, had to pick the green ones from the box of yellow and wrinkled ones. Luckily, there were good ones. Sighhhh!!! Another two weeks - stay at home, fine by me. Rather problematic going out to stock up on food.

I think that tomato egg dish of yours is the base for the soup for the tomato noodles at Payung. They cook till the tomato hancur completely. Very nice, use fresh tomatoes, not bottled tomato sauce.

    1. The limes were fresh and good. Good for making teh asm boi drinks and also for sambal belacan.

Since I have so many tomatoes, I will try putting into soups.

  8. So far, I have not tried buying vegetables online because the wet mini market is just 2-3 minutes drive from my place... I normally buy meat there too.. cos the other time I bought online delivery, the pork ribs had a darker colour.. very skeptical to buy through delivery again..

    1. Your are lucky then. Sometimes with online order, just have to take a risk. If first time no good, then move on to another alternative.

  9. Looks like we will be further locked until mid May. Yes, you heard my screams cos I live next street to that vegetable supplier which is near your home.

I have been observing those Cameron Vege suppliers online and had seen mostly good ones. I am still considering to order fresh flowers from Cameron Highlands via Lazada for my big altar at home. I only worry that I would receive "pressed flowers" instead. Should I take the risk?

    1. Seriously? When that happens you will hear Ah Hong Chee's screams!

Oh, there is always a risk especially with fragile and perishable goods. Have you also considered Grabmart? I think I saw a florist in the list of merchants.

  10. I like tomatoes and egg dish. Fortunately for me, it is convenient to buy vegetables and fruits in the nearby supermarket. Groceries can be bought from the nearby shops. So far, I have not tried food delivery or shop online yet.

    1. You are fortunate that there are nearby shops. Then there is no requirement for online deliveries.

  11. Your Eggs and Tomato dish tickled my ribs because that's a sort of National Dish in whole China. I had eaten the 10 course meals in Beijing for like over 7 days and they served a giant plate of scrambled eggs with mashed tomatoes as one course. Later years, I saw the same dish in every corner of China. I love it now 😍😍😍.
