Si Yao Kai

Today I am home sick. It started Sunday when I felt a sore throat and cough coming on.

I feel very tired and demotivated which is why I took a day off work. I would rather be well and working.

But before we talk about my lunch on Monday, meet Poochie.

Since last Friday I had been hearing the mewing of a kitten. But I was unable to trace the source of the sound. It is not easy to trace the kitten because they could be hiding anywhere - underneath cars, in the bushes or behind flower pots.

Saturday I heard the mewing again. It was audible but when I went outside the check, I simply could not find the kitten. So I told myself, if the kitten walks into my car porch, I will adopt it. So there!

Sunday evening I was already not feeling well but I went outside to check the mewing. It was very loud. After looking around I found this little fella behind a flower pot.

So I picked it up and brought it into the house. I placed the kitten inside a carrier while I set up the cage. At the time I had no idea if the kitten is a boy or girl (found out it's a boy at the vet's).

This is what I love about cats, they automatically know how to go to the toilet hah..hah...

Monday it was off to the vet. I left Poochie there around 9:00am for a bath. I needed him to be cleaned up.

The vet called to inform me that Poochie was infested with fleas. Oh dear!

He said that he would apply Frontline treatment and it would be two weeks (one week for adult fleas to be killed and another week for the eggs to hatch) before Poochie can take a shower (and vaccinated). Well, I hope all goes well.

Later, I went for lunch at Ming Kee.

I was early.

I had the Si Yao Kai (soy sauce chicken) and a lemon tea (hot).

The Si Yao Kai was wonderful!

Tender, juicy and flavorful though it was a bit sweet for me.

After lunch I went to 99 Speedmart.

Where I saw this mock up of Maggi noodles.

Hibiscus Sunday morning.

What did I get myself into? LOL!

  4. So now Poochie is staying at the vet for two weeks? Or back home with U?
Last time ah Buuuiii applied frontline a few times at the vet for a few months just as a precaution although I didn't see any fleas.
May Poochie get rid of all the fleas in two weeks πŸ’ͺ🏻❤️😻

    1. No, he is home. I will send him to the vet for a reassessment in another two Mondays. Oh dear, it sounds like Ah Buuuiii's flea infestation was really bad. I also did not see fleas on Poochie. They are very small, maybe vet used magnifying glass LOL!

  6. Congrats to the new addition to your family....finally you've got a "son"...lol! He's a real cutie...love the colour! ;) He looks like a cross-breed with some "atas" cat (probably Siamese because of the colour of the ears and tail)...and not your regular domestic short hair. I don't think he was born on the street...coz street kittens will run away when they see humans. He could have wandered away from his mother and his home and couldn't find his way back. Luckily, he wandered into your home...and into your arms. If something as adorable as that wandered into my porch, I would adopt it too...lol!

I gather he's free of fleas already seeing he's on your sofa. Frontline can be bought online and applied periodically to your cats (much cheaper than going to the vet) and more regularly for those who roam outside as higher chances of catching it. Even my Poppy got fungus the other day, even though she's 100% indoor, she must have caught it outside while in her cage.

    1. Thank you! My "son" hah..hah... Yes, he is a cutie. My partner said Poochie looks like a fox and is probably part Siamese. There was an adult Siamese that used to come to my porch and Poochies has that look.

No, he is still under quarantine (flea treatment was Monday) and I will send him to the vet again in another 2 Mondays for a reassessment. He was sleeping on my lap LOL! Ya, this morning I ordered Frontline. Oh dear, even in her cage outside Poppy caught fungus. I think it could be airborne and the spores landed on her.

  7. Awwwww....Poochie is absolutely adorable, dear friend! What a precious kitten! Yes, cats that go outdoors are prone to getting fleas, unfortunately, always best to keep them indoors, and for their safety, too!
I love all the photos of this sweet little kitten, dear friend! This little guy looks to be PART Siamese...Sealpoint, if I am not mistaken. I do not think he is a purebred, though. However, this doesn't matter! His health is the most important, and often purebreds have health issues that is typical of the breed. For example, Golden Retrievers are very often stricken with hip dysplasia, and Persian cats often have respiratory issues and teary eyes associated with their "pushed in" faces.
Your photos are beautiful, dear friend, and that chicken looks delicious!

  9. Congratulations on the new addition of fur kid. May all the other cats accept him dearly. He is so handsome. I have a Siamese cat born at my house to a stray mother cat 2 years ago. He is very chatty & loud. I have to close the door at times to shut him out. May you have lots of lovely time with Poochie.
