It is very convenient to walk from The Starling to any restaurant in the vicinity. It is near impossible to get a parking spot close to the restaurants.
After looking at the menu, my partner was keen on noodles.
This was his order, Shrimp Wantan Noodles. My partner was very pleased with his order and he loved the wantans. He gave me one to try and it was good.
Since he ordered noodles, so did I. My order was the Braised Pork Ribs with Radish (with a sauce I can't remember the name).
The pork ribs were tender and there were also pieces of pork skin in the bowl. The radish were braised until soft and they were tasty as they had absorbed the braising liquids.
My only complaint is the sauce was on the sweet side, I would prefer it more savory.
I also ordered a stir fried French beans dish to share. It was very tasty and much to our liking.

Wow! All 3 dishes sound exactly π― what my spouse likes to eat π so I think a visit to this eatery is a must ππ» thanks for the reviews π
ReplyDeletemy kinda dishes! i want to hijack all of these!

ReplyDeleteIndeed you made a 3rd visit to Ming Kee (for datenite)....lol! Glad you tried out the stir-fried french beans and soup wantans (and liked it...with your partner being impressed with the latter...and one wantan won't cut it, you have to have your own bowl...lol!). I'm not that a big of a fan of soup wantans to begin with (I prefer fried ones) but I thought these soup wantans were excellent (maybe there could even some dried flounder powder in the fillings to make wantans more fragrant). Glad Ming Kee has now been added to your "list" for datenites. ^_~
ReplyDeleteI hope my review on the porridge did not deter your partner from trying since he loves to eat porridge (perhaps he might like it if he's ok with HK-style porridge consistency). Geli about eating frog? I was too...before I realised how good they were. Well, don't think of frog when you eat it and you should be fine. If you eat one with not much meat, then the frog you got was probably not good-sized ones. The drumstick of big-sized ones are super tender, smooth and delicious (even smoother and better tasting than eating smooth poached chicken...haha). Hope you get to try the big-sized frogs one day...cooked simply with ginger & wine (steamed or stir-fried) or in kung po style...yumsss (the latter will suit you more).
