What I Ate on A Public Holiday

Nothing exciting for sure.

Monday was a public holiday and I spent the day in the garden, pulling weeds, pruning my plants and watering. Then I did my laundry.

After that it was a spot of tidying up areas of the house that needed tidying up. That's how I usually spend my holidays. Doing (to others) mundane things which I find very therapeutic.

There is nothing like the joy of seeing a tidy garden, clean clothes hanging on the rack and a neat house. I know. That's not most people's idea of spending the holidays.

Holidays are for getaways or going out for a spot of shopping or sightseeing with family or friends. I am an odd one.

Holiday or not, I gotta eat!

Again, holiday is a time to go out and eat, right? But no. Holiday is an opportunity for me to eat good home cooked meals, simple as they may be.

I love browned crispy garlic!

I love meat. So this was my main dish.

I love veggies too. These were sauerkraut and kimchi. Both homemade.

And a broth. I slow cooked one whole chicken for my girls. And instead of throwing away the broth, I consume it.

My humble lunch.

This was (early) dinner. Scrambled minced beef and eggs.

Four eggs, some pre-cooked minced beef, onions and Jalapenos.

Some chili sauce and more fermented veggies.

After that was chill out with season 12 of Law & Order : Special Victims Unit (one of my favorite TV series). I actually prefer the classic Law & Order although SVU is still a good watch.

I am currently reading this book, Brutally Honest, by Melanie Brown. Remember Spice Girls?

I am not a Spice Girls fan (their music is not my type) but I liked Melanie Brown (Mel B) when she was a judge on America' Got Talent. I love her personality. She was also on Dancing With The Stars and she is a fantastic dancer.

It is sad that her love life was such a disaster and it pretty much almost destroyed her. Being beautiful, talented, rich and famous does not guarantee happiness in your life.

That is why I am happy just being plain old PH! LOL!

  3. I am like you, I spent my holidays doing houseworks and it gives me a satisfying feeling seeing a house spick and span. Plus when I do houseworks in the daytime I can hear birds chirping in my neighborhood woods and at times certain breeds of birds like king Fisher, turtle doves would pay a isit to my kitchen yard window rack and I will greet them and say hello to them. What a wonderful, peaceful and therapeutic feeling. It is very stressed to be a celebrity, no privacy and you have to put up with all kinds of comments, some which are brutal and negative, that's why many celebrities end up with suicide. The last quote is so true. I am happy to be a nobody and small fry lol.

    1. Nice to know that! When I am in the garden, I can hear birds chirping. My girls will be all ears and they will look up hoping to catch a bird. LOL! Ya, we always think that celebrities have a good and happy life, when in actual fact, a number of them are so miserable.

  7. I missed my mom's homecooked yam rice or they call Orrh PNG, at times she doesn't put yam, but replaces with cabbages and cooked with pork belly and some dried shrimps, I will eat them with some oily shallots, dark soy sauce and white pepper. Yums! Your garlic and pork belly meal reminds me of that.
