Good Carb Day : A Walk Around The Block

It was a stressful day. How you react to stress can make or break you - either you go absolutely bonkers or take it calmly.

These days, I am more philosophical. This is what happened. I submitted a statutory document and after the submission, I realized that the document contained a factual error. Darn! How did I miss it???!!!

My bad. I was careless. Is it the end of the world? No. Whatever is done, is done and cannot be undone. However, I can submit a rectification. Sure there is a penalty.

But that is the price to pay for being careless. Treat it as a lesson. An expensive mistake. That would make me more cautious in future.  Nobody is going to die. So it is all good. Move on.

Then I went for a leisurely late lunch. To decompress.

I was at Halla Holla, Damansara Jaya, a day after their refurbishment.

The decor does not look very much different, just that it was more airy and neater.

I had an iced latte. It was wonderful!

And my favorite Beef Focaccia sandwich. Beautifully toasted. I left a remark in my order for the bread to be lightly toasted only (leaving nothing to chance).

The latte and sandwich soothed my stress way.

After a carb meal, I like to take a walk to run off the glucose in my blood. So I walked around block surrounding The Starling.

I passed by RT Pastry and saw them advertising their "Roti Lobak Merah Segar" (Fresh Carrot Bread?).

A new burger and fried chicken restaurant AllAce has opened at this corner.

Then I passed by Ryokan Chic Hotel. There are many such budget/boutique hotels in this area.

This is a Chinese restaurant called Tripod Empire. What a funny name. Tripod reminded me of my days at the science lab. You know, those tripod stands.

Then I passed by Uptown 37.

After one round, I was back at my starting point. Then I went for another round.

After that, some stair climbing.

Some more steps.

And then into The Starling for a spot of escalator climbing. Some of us are just bonkers.

I climbed up to the cinema. It was very quiet since it was a week day.

On my way down, I passed by Little Puff. They are now serving cream puffs with ice cream.

When I got back to the office (all sweaty), I checked my total numbers for the day. Not bad. That walk around the block and all that stair climbing took something like 40 minutes.

  2. Hahaha, I have been to halla holla Damansara jaya once only so I can't spot the difference between the before and after. Your beef focaccia looks delicious. In the midvalley mall branch, they didn't say can change the sourdough bread to focaccia. Maybe next time I will ask to find out.

    1. The focaccia beef is a separate item on the DJ menu. They only have two - focaccia with either beef pr chicken.

  4. Hi dear friend, I really like your attitude towards stress. ๐Ÿ˜Š Stress ๐Ÿ˜ฉ in itself is part of life and can be a learning experience rather than devastation if we take it and look at it as you did. You did great ๐Ÿ‘
I love your photos and am happy that your meal helped you to relax and move on with your day. I love the picture of the tiles and steps or staircase..Thank you so much for sharing ❤️

  6. Ah, I'm glad you finally had an Iced Latte (your first? lol). Nothing like bread and coffee to decompress. P/S: Carrot bread...like carrot cake, I suppose?

  8. Ahhh, I had coffee bun with a little cream inside and butter sugar bun too on Friday ytd too. Can't rmb if I had coffee or tea, both coffee or tea ok for me. For lunch, I had egg fried rice at Foodcourt, it was warm and tasty as it was cooked on the spot. I also dabao one Popiah (with only egg and veggies, without any shrimp/prawn) and had yogurt when I got home. This was my dinner. With popiah, yogurt and plenty of plain water, they were able to sustain me until the next day. I ate vegetarian twice a month to add variety to my Food and Beverage intake and to avoid meat aversion. Everytime meat meat meat may get scary at times.

  9. Friend, yes, miscommunication/mistake can cause serious/dire consequences, but if we rectify it soon enough, it will be alright. I am glad you have the right attitude and above to spot the mistake. Steady pom pi pi lah!

  10. Thanks for bringing me a tour/walk around the block. Love it ! In SG, everyday be it weekday or weekends also crowded (Dunk!) (with tourists, parents with their kids/toddlers, students/teenagers after school, semi-retired/retired elderlies and what have you), unlike you mentioned cinema was quiet on a weekday. God will it, I have a little Sactuary/mini "castle" for me to return to and enjoy my meals/day hah!

    1. Here when it is school holidays, the mall and restaurants will be super crowded. So if I want to eat out, wither eat early or eat late to avoid the crowd. Yes, our home is our sanctuary.
