Bad Carb Day : No Choice

Yesterday was an extra stressful day.

I had to resolve a work issue since last Saturday. I kept getting errors and at some point I felt defeated. But I told myself "You are an accountant. You can solve this!"

And indeed I did. Took me almost the whole day. In the midst of it all, I had to go out and deliver lunch to my mum. Then I come back, all sweaty, and worked on my problem again.

And then I had to eat. I wanted to go to Duo Kopi but they were full. So no choice I made my way to Yitcha Kaw Kaw Kopitiam for a quick lunch. I wanted something light and fast.

I swore not to eat such things as these are full of carbs/sugar.

But they were good heh..heh... Carbs somehow make me happy especially when I am stressed out.

The egg tart and bursting kaya puff were washed down with my favorite Kopi C ais kosong. All that for RM12.05.

These were the products on display at the cafe. Then I left to get back to my work. And praise the Lord, he gave me the wisdom to solve my accounting issues. Numbers all balanced and good to go woohoo!

And then my books arrived. Recently Open Trolley had a sitewide discount of 15%, so I took advantage of the sale.

Let's see what I got.

I read James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small (from my grandfather's library) when I was a teenager. It was delightful, stories from the Yorkshire dales when Mr Herriot practiced as a vet. There was a lot of humor too.

And then some gossipy stuff.

Meghan and Harry : The Real Story. Not that I am a fan of these too, I think they are a disaster. But rather I am a fan of Lady Colin Campbell (affectionately known as Lady C). I have already read Revenge by Tom Bower which was an excellent read regarding these two, Meghan in particular.

Lastly, How to Lose Your Mother by Molly Jong-Fast, the daughter of author Erica Jong.

For those of you old enough to remember, Erica Jong is the author Fear of Flying, a book which I have never read and most likely never will since it is not my area of interest.

So there, my books to keep me entertained and my brain ticking.

This was dinner, my favorite kimchi jigae. It was a good day after all.

    1. The kaya puff was not too sweet when I had it, maybe they adjusted for less sugar. You have a great day ahead!

  4. Good that you are flexible. Do enjoy what you like although it is not recommended if one aims to live till 108 like my grandma but I think my grandma did eat everything that she likes to eat in moderation. I think the key is eat in moderation. PTL that you solved your issue. When I was young I read James Herriot stories in Readers Digest and wanted to be a vet for a while. Luckily I didn't because I don't think I want to see living beings in pain all the time.

    1. God bless your grandma, she is very long lived. Eating in moderation is highly recommended but I tend to overeat LOL! I read somewhere that the suicide rate among vets is very high and I was shocked to learn that. So sad.

  6. Glad that you cleared the "crisis" in the office, press on, my friend! Ahhh, and I like James's books, the illustrations on the book cover already stole my heart! Stress do make us crave for food. I guess it is ok as long as you don't do that too often and I can see that you pretty disciplined enough. The last poster/quote is so encouraging! Have a good day ahead! See you tmr morning!

  7. Haha, I'm kedekut to pay full price for books unless it's a cookbook of my favourite chef. I believe your book cupboard is bursting with all the books you buy. What do you do with them....do you ever sell them as second-hand books? If you do, let me know....I'd be more than happy to buy your two books on Harry & Meghan...lol (second-had gossip!)....wuahahahaha! :D

    1. Yeah, I usually wait until price is reduced. I used to go to those book rental shops to rent books cheaply. I don't know if such shops are still around. I have sold my collection of Asterix & Obelix to one of those shops a long time ago but they buy at dirt cheap price >.< Well, I could consider selling my old books to you hah..hah...hah...

    2. Actually, I'm not much of a reader...can't find the time for it. I'm only interested in reading gossip...haha. Well, when you want to part with Megan & Harry's books, let me know.
