What I Am Eating

I am still pretty much a meat eater. When I was a child, I lived with my grandparents and I do not remember being encouraged to eat vegetables.

Not that they discouraged the consumption of vegetables but grandpa believed that protein is the most important macro nutrient for a growing child.

He was right. But he made the mistake of indulging me (and his other grandchildren) with soft drinks and snacks.

So not surprisingly, I became an overweight child (hence my hangups with my weight which was made worse by (inconsiderate) people making cruel remarks).

When I subsequently went to live with my parents, my mum was not too happy to find that I was not keen on vegetables. Of course I subsequently learnt to love veggies.

But I am back to my meat eating ways. Admittedly I also love carbohydrates (who doesn't, right?) and I do indulge in rice, noodles, pastries and bread from time to time.

Reducing carbs/sugars (especially junk/processed food) from my diet has improved my (mental and physical) health in leaps and bounds.

These days, veggies that I eat are mostly confined to kimchi as in dishes like kimchi jigae which I cook with pork belly.

Other than that, I don't bother. I don't buy veggies anymore and there is no more wastage of wilted vegetables which used to happen back in those days when I was eating salads and such.

One advantage of not eating veggies is no production of gas hah..hah..hah...

I eat mostly beef and pork. And I also love eggs. Last Sunday I air fried some thinly sliced pork belly.

These were simply seasoned with garlic salt and air fried at 200C for about 10 minutes or so.

I felt like having rice and so I did. The rice was mixed with some store bought chonggak kimchi. It was so good!

I also air fried two batches of beef trimmings for my weekday dinner. These I can eat straight out from the fridge and they were delicious.

***Kitten Updates***

This Ah Boi is mama's boy.

He is one hungry boy getting mama's milk all to himself.

TuTu Kat likes to be by herself. Pretty much like me.

Meanwhile Poodie Kat loves to hide behind the flower pot.

Caaaakk!!!

This little girl and her brother are so cute together.

This morning Ah Boi breached the perimeter of my gate. I took him inside but he ran out again. Then I saw him go outside again with Kittie Kat but she came back alone. I don't know if Ah Boi will find his way back home. Stay tuned.

  1. I was just like you when young and hated most vegetables. I only enjoyed eating raw or blanched veggies dipped with spicy hot sambal belacan in Thailand. I am surprised that today I love eating vegetables that not everyone likes.
I have been trying to eat more meat on your advice.

Your kittens are growing very fast and cute. Remember my crystal ball once predicted you will have many cats πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    2. Good good, hope Kittie Kat teaches ah Boi how to be safe and run away from predators and cars. I have seen many road kills 🐈😺, very heart breaking.

    3. I hope so too. I would be heartbroken if anything bad happened to them.
