EMCO Day #7 : Picha Eats

I was scrolling through Grabfood again and saw Picha Eats. I have always wanted to try the food but I noted that they cater for groups and as such I never placed an order.

Now that they are on Grabfood, I took the opportunity to try the Palestinian Chicken Mandi Set. The eatery was still closed when I checked the menu and I placed a scheduled delivery for 11:15 am to 11:30 am. This is the first time that I tried a scheduled delivery.

It's quite efficient as I received a notification at around 10:30am that a rider has been dispatched to collect my food.

I was very hungry and just after 11:00 am, my food arrived in a paper bag.

Inside was the Chicken Mandi, brownies and a bottle of mineral water (you can choose your drink).

The food and dessert were still warm.

This packaging reminded me of my past meal subscriptions with Dahmakan and The Naked Lunchbox.

And yes, more memories came flooding back because of the steamed vegetables. There were carrot sticks, daikon, broccoli and cauliflower.

There was a small tub of sauce which looked like Thai chili sauce, which of course wasn't and it packed quite a kick as it was spicy hot.

The mandi rice was mildly aromatic and so were the mandi chicken. Taste wise it was pleasant though I felt flavors could be punchier. Perhaps this is how it is supposed to taste, not heavily spiced.

I'd have to say that I loved the brownies. They were crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, chocolaty and not too sweet. Overall it was a filling meal and I quite enjoyed it (except for the vegetables).

Belle Belle is still bored.

And so is Girl.

  6. The Palestinian Chicken Mandi is a cute name. I have never tried Palestinian food and they looked appetizing. The brownies is definitely my type, crusty outside and soft inside. It is so easy to make yet many sellers failed to make good ones.

  7. Great that you're giving support to this place which I believe are homecooks from the refugee community. The name of the dish may be mandi but the dish appears dry...where's the mandi...lol! :D
