Lockdown Day #3 : Lockdown Blues (So Fast!)

Yesterday I was quite frustrated. My mood was no good until my face looked like ham choy. No offense to my auntie's homemade ham choy which I am sure is gorgeous.

I got three calls, all work related (I know that lockdown is not a vacation, but still) and one call from EPF. I was in the midst of working on some applications for my clients and all of a sudden I felt so sien.

I actually dislike working from home. There are limitations for example like when I need to refer to physical files. Besides I prefer a separation between home (where everything should be chill and lovely) and office (where there is stress which I can leave behind when I go home).

Of course under current circumstances, it cannot be helped especially under lockdown. After I settled what I had to settle, I still had to wait for my delivery which did not arrive until 6:30pm.

It did not help that my two cats were misbehaving. They turned up their noses when I fed them Whiskas tuna. Girl used to love this but now she is giving me diva behavior.

Belle who usually wolfs down her food, ate only half and made for the door. Girl whined and also wanted to go outside. They don't usually go out after dinner but there they were, in solidarity, waiting at the door, demanding to be let outside.

Next thing I know, DING DONG! Ah. That must be the delivery man. So I opened the door and the two kiddos bolted. Tsk!

I requested the guy to put the boxes outside the gate. When he caught sight of Belle Belle, he asked "Dia punya ke?" (the packages are for her?). "Ya, semua dia punya" (yes, it's all hers) and the guy chuckled.

After I took the goods inside, I had to carry Belle Belle back into the house and chuck her into her cage. Then I went outside again and carried Girl inside. Haiz.......

There you go. Because I let them have a taste of Sheba and Fancy Feast, they now refuse Whiskas. And mind you, within the two brands, they also have their likes and dislikes.

Girl used to love this a lot. But this morning she was like, meh. Belle Belle at least ate 3/4 of her portion.

But never fear, greedy Belle Belle came back (as usual) to sapu Girl's portion (after finishing what she left behind in her own bowl first).

I could not get their favorite flavors, so I compromised. When they are hungry, they have no choice but to eat. Yup, even the Whiskas they eventually ate.

See, my house is like cat grocery store.

I also bought kibble which thankfully, they were agreeable to this one. I used to give them Royal Canin (they love it) which has proven to be too expensive in the long run.

This was my dinner after settling the cat food. Steamed bittergourd with tofu and meat. Simple and good.

I was still feeling down so I went to the freezer to take something out before settling on the sofa for a spot of Narcos Mexico (I finished Narcos, the Colombian one and it was so darn good even after second viewing).

Apa tu?

My favorite chocolate bars - Whittaker's. Chocolate is a balm for frazzled nerves.

By the way, those are my dumbells. Why am I even showing you this?

Now back to my nyum nyum. Nibbling chocolate while watching the telly is very bad habit but so good for the soul.

Loads of peanuts but lesser almonds.

My bliss did not last very long because Belle Belle started making loud noises and clawing at her cage. Then it occurred to me that she had not used her litter box the whole day. So I let her out.

And she did this. (WARNING. Explicit photo)

My day was already bad. And I had to deal with this. In the midst of Narcos Mexico. Sometimes I wished I didn't have kids. Anyway.

Today is a better day. The cat litter that I ordered arrived.

Then my Medklinn air sterilizer which I sent for repair was returned with no charges although I failed to register the warranty. For that, I am truly grateful.

After installing this unit (more than a month ago) I sleep so much better because I no longer wake up with blocked nose/runny nose and at the office (I installed one there too), I don't get sneezing fits/runny nose (my nose is very sensitive to dust and stuff). On no, I am not sponsored, just sharing good things only.

Today's breakfast after my morning walk - fried egg, baked beans and Rainbow Sprouted Bread (which I kept in the freezer and defrosted). So good!

Lunch was Maggi Mee with kimchi jigae. Again. May I have more good lockdowns days to come. Amen.

  1. Salted vegetables? My missus makes her own but she buys a lot of the vegetables and in the end, gets so very little. Easier to go and buy. They have it at my neighbourhood shop in the next lane - somebody makes at home too for sale but of course, can't beat own homemade.

Gee!!! Your cats are better fed than me. Eyewwwwww!!! What's that in the explicit photo? Suddenly I've lost all my appetite. LOL!!!

  2. I guess not everyday is a good day. Definitely working from home isn't fun. Agree on seperating work and home.

    1. I hope lockdown won't be extended beyond the 14 days. I need to get back to office because there is so much work to do.

  3. Too much good food, your girls tend to be picky now. Lol. But like you said, they will eventually eat when they dont have choice and hungry. Be patient. Pets like kids, need much attention.

  5. SG government did not announce whether they will extend the Phase 2 HA period further, I think they still want to wait and see.

    1. Here also they will wait and see. I hope the 14 days lockdown won't be extended. Of course that would depend on how our infection rate is.

  6. Your auntie's ham choy looks great. Home made ones are always better. Now I feel like making a new batch of ham choy. Your girls are so well taken care of, all the good food and they can pick and choose. I find chocolate snacks very addictive, can't stop when I start to snack. Yes, I want to eat your kind of breakfast with bread, baked beans and egg.

    1. Belle Belle gives me headache lah. Maybe I should not put her into the cage too early. Give her chance to use toilet first.

    1. I buy more food for them now so that I need not worry about supplies. During MCO 1.0, I had problem replenishing supplies.

  9. Warning!! (Explicit explanation ahead): Oh dear, now I understand why you removed the lid from her toilet. Haha, Belle2 is so messy which shouldn't be the case since her litter pan is so big. Maybe towards the end where the poo is softer (or more liquid), then a few drops might be left on the litter cover (or on the floor). I think that happened coz she's facing the wrong side (of the litter pan) coz they tend to shake their butt (up and down) towards the end of their poo to get the last bits out (and that's probably why her poo flung out)! :D Maybe next time when you hear her scratching, follow her to the toilet and use your hand to guide her towards the right position...lol. That's what a mommy is for...wakakakaka! Cookie is usually very "spot on" with his poop unless something spooked him when he's doing his business which may make him run out of his litter pan before he finished pooping (accidents do happen...but very rare). P/S: I recently changed Cookie to tofu litter too (thanks for your recommendation) and (I agree) the clumping is excellent. I'm using Cindy...but only for the litter pan in the house (very expensive-lha), outside still Fussie Cat. Why does your tofu litter have 2 colours (the one Belle misfired)?

Looks like our 3 fellas are quite smart (aka picky) with their food once they've tasted the good stuff...a bit like their owners lah, they know the good (aka expensive) stuff from the rest. Cookie has turned his nose on Whiskas long ago...both wet and dry...haiz! >_<

    1. What a graphic description! LOL! I reckon, she was desperately needing to poo and let go before she got into position. If I followed her to the toilet, won't she get spooked? Let me try that and see what happens. Generally, she does her pee and poo at the center of the box which makes scooping very easy and neat. Unlike Girl who pees at the very corner of her box. So difficult to get at the clump and it breaks when I scoop too hard. So I have changed the orientation of her box and revert back to the low rimmed box. It seems to work, I mean easier for me to scoop the pee clump.

I am glad you are now using tofu litter for the pan inside the house and that you are happy with it (and Cookie is OK with it). I ran out of the same scent and used one of each for Belle's box, hence two colors.

Oh ya, earlier on I never realized that they can become picky. I naively thought they would eat anything we served. Belle is a bit better since she will still eat some. Girl will look at her bowl and look up at me with a disappointed look and start whining. Haiz......

I am still waiting for my vaccination, should be faster now since the clinics and BP labs here in Ipoh are starting to vaccinate the people. I also bought some can food for my furry member, thank God she is not a fussy eater, she eats anything edible in her pot, except for fruits, I dont know why... greens also she will eat... and she licks her pot spick and span after each meal... Yes, I use a stainless pot for her food cos she has big appetite!
