There is Yitcha Kaw Kaw Kopitiam and Kaw Kaw Pakkopi which to me associates the Kaw Kaw to local coffee.
Well, recently I saw (from a distance) Kaw Kaw on the signboard of an eatery. So I simply assumed that it was another kopitiam place.
After an errand at Telekom (it's on the same row, further up, closer to Texas Chicken) I went to check the place and realized that it was actually Restoran Ikan Kaw Kaw. Fish! LOL!
Since I won't be dining here, I'll just share the menu in case anyone is interested to check out this new restaurant.
While I was browsing, a young lady came outside to talk to me but she was not conversant in English.
I regret not taking Mandarin classes more seriously when I was in primary school :(
Good morning! This fish kaw kaw place looks like a Chi-na place that sells oily and spicy Chinese food which I don't like too. I love fried chicken.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! That's what I thought too since some of the dishes have dried chillies.
DeleteI think kaw kaw is a term meant only for drinks (as in how 'thick' the drinks are like Yit Cha & Pakkopi)....not fish lah! :D
ReplyDeletePerhaps they meant their fish meat is thick and very substantial, that's why they call it fish kaw kaw.
Deletekaw can also be a term to refer to flesh being thick. Like in hokkien, they say his skin very kaw, meaning he is very thick skined, LOL!
DeleteKris : That's why I was amused as to why they use "kaw kaw" for the fish LOL! There is another meaning n Hokkien for "kaw kaw" ie like the expression of "all out" or "betul-betul" as in enjoying your food (fish) all out until very satisfied/makan betul2 sampai puas. So it might mean eat/enjoy fish kaw kaw! LOL!
DeleteLotus : hah..hah..could be their fish very fleshy and the meat is very kaw!
DeletePH & Libby: Lol...those who don't know Hokkien won't know the other meaning. Lol on "thick skinned"! :D
DeleteThere are so many Chinese style restaurants like Ikan Kaw Kaw in Klang Valley (or whole Malaysia?) offer various types of Chinese cuisine.
ReplyDeleteThat fried chicken meal, not cheap eh... =.="
There are so many items on their menu, I wonder how the cope hah..hah...
DeleteI also think I won't like the gravy so I haven't tried similar food. Thank you for the updates on eateries in uptown. ๐ ๐
ReplyDeleteI like to kepoh2 in Uptown. LOL!
