(This happened in April 2023) I can't remember the last time I ate a piece of cake. It must have been last year, I think.
So when I went to The Red Kettle, The Starling for an early (carbo) dinner, I thought why not give myself a treat.
So I got me this very nice Hummingbird Cake. The last time I had a Hummingbird Cake was during the EMCO in 2021. Sadly that restaurant had shut down.
Coffee and cake, can't go wrong with that, eh? Yes, the Hummingbird Cake was very nice, not too sweet at all.
This was my main meal, the Roast Beef Sandwich.
The beef was actually corned beef, like the one you get from a can. Why do they call it a Roast Beef Sandwich? Misleading isn't it? The positive thing is that it was not overly salty and strong smelling like (some of) the canned ones.
There was melted cheese and (not enough) gherkins in the filling. Overall, this sandwich was all right but it is not something I would order again.
Now back to the present time, as in yesterday, Sunday.
Lunch was a sirloin steak and lamb racks.
While dinner was some leftover lamb racks and beef trimmings.
I am still staying on track. Today is day 24 of my carnivore reset. Yay!
Best to eat cake with a cup of latte! Lamb shanks! It has been a long time since I last ate those... I remember eating those with lots of mint sauce... yummsss...

DeleteI had a slice of cake too...in my blogpost tomorrow. Hop over and have a look! All the gorgeous looking cakes and pastries at that place I went to and all I could do was to drool...and be happy with my share of a slice. Sobsss!!! My life is so miserable. What? Corned beef and they call it roast beef? What a rip off!!! I would go and give the chef a piece of my mind if I were you!

DeleteIt must have been many moons or decades since the last time I ate corned beef. I totally forgotten about this delicacy until you mentioned again. I fully agree that the 2 beefs are different and misleading on their oversight of copywriting.

DeleteI don't love cake...it's one thing I can skip with no longing! ;) But I do love a good salt beef sandwich...salt beef is like the beef version of luncheon meat...lol! :D
ReplyDeleteAh, you also enjoy salt beef! I was very tempted to get that from The Butcher's Table but it is so expensive. Besides it's nicer if it is eaten as a sandwich. LOL!
