A Vietnamese Dinner Date

After my lei cha lunch and because I am the boss of me, I went to the movies. After all it was a Friday. Time to chill out people!

I went to watch A Star is Born. Worth every cent I spent on the Premier ticket. I loved the movie so much that I want to watch it again. I am not a Lady Gaga fan but I was impressed with her acting. And boy, can Bradley Cooper sing!

When the credits were rolling (I was still in the theater enjoying the soundtrack) I noticed a message from my brother. He was on the way to The Starling.

So I quickly got out to go to the loo (hah...hah...) and as I was making my way out from the loo, I spotted my brother. He was on his way to the loo (hah...hah...).

This time my brother wanted to try Pho Vietz@The Starling after hearing of my good experience. He has tried the one at Atria Shopping Gallery but was not impressed.

It was just 4:30pm and I was still quite full from the popcorn and Famous Amos cookies that came with the movie ticket.

These were what we ordered to share :

1. Vietnamese Spring Roll

2. Vietnamese Prawn Salad

3. Fresh Prawn Roll

4. Steamed Flat Rice Rolls with Minced Pork

5. Grilled Pork Skewers

And my brother got himself a bowl of 4-Beef Combo Noodle.

The two of us sat at a table for four and ate for four (small eaters). Look at us.

Oh wait, that's before the steamed flat rice rolls entered frame.

For drinks, my brother had the Basil Passion Soda.

Then I noticed a bunch of curly alien-like stuff in his drink. So he dug it out.

It must be the young stem of basil but there was no distinct basil flavor in his drink at all. I hope they didn't recycle that. Opps!! Just kidding.

After our meal, we went jalan-jalan at the bazaar on the ground floor. Look what we found or rather what my brother found while I was busy paying the granola guy.

My brother offered to buy me a brownie but I declined (even though I wanted to cave in) so he bought himself this.....

...this....

...and this....

Well, that was a nice outing with my brother and I hope he enjoyed his desserts.

  2. You've watched A Star is Born??? Oh gee!!! I love the song I never love again. I don't think it will be screened here - here, they show the slash and burn and kill and the hantu movies only. So fed up! No sign of Bohemian Rhapsody either. I would love to watch that!

I love Vietnamese...as much as Thai! I'd love this place, I'm sure. The sweet stuff, not really.

    1. I know a few people who also dislike it due to the herbs. To some people it is "smelly"!

  12. Looks like Starling is your brother's lahling too...he goes there as often as you do (you're from there, so I understand) but he too...haha! ;D I seldom bump into men who like desserts as much as your brother do coz men generally don't like sweet...and sour stuff! :P The only thing I've not tried are those steamed flat rice rolls...better than our stuffed chee cheong fun? I thought those curly things were cucumber shreds too.
