Steamed Chicken Again

This time I revisited Ipoh Famous Ayam Tauge & Koitiau for their steamed chicken.

My previous visits were in 2020 and 2021.

Well, I relooked at my 2021 post and it appears that I was not happy hence I never returned.

But who knows, since they are still standing, they may have improved.

So I decided to come back.

The place still looks the same.

Some tables are designated for sharing.

My order - 1/4 chicken (lower portion) and giblet (it turned out to be giblet plus liver). No rice.

The chicken giblets and liver were just ok. The liver was overcooked and I preferred the giblets. Won't order this again.

The 1/4 chicken (free range chicken) was all right, at least the meat was tender and moist (better than the one I had here). Not fantastic but good enough. The sauce was quite nice.

The ginger paste was pretty good and so was the chili dip.

Well, I may come back from time to time when I want steamed chicken.

  1. Dear friend, the quote is very true 👍
Lovely photos. Steamed chicken looks and sounds scrumptious.

    1. Steamed chicken can be really tasty if the chicken is free range and fresh.

  2. The best steamed chicken that I have eaten is in Penang. The shop is hot bowl white curry mee. Ate it in 2015. Not sure whether the quality is still as good now.
In kl I seldom eat steamed chicken except at 1u their signature samsui ginger chicken at soup restaurant. Used to be very nice. My previous visit it wasn't that nice because the chicken taste is strong.

    1. My memory of good steamed chicken was probably at a chicken rice shop in Section 14 years ago.

  3. I actually don't mind slightly overcooked chicken liver than mushier ones that are cooked less...but I don't eat giblets at all! ;) P/S: This place still seem to enjoy good reviews/Google rating.
