It looks like my brother has had a head start to Chinese New Year (CNY) goodies. Ngaku is a very popular item. Everyone loves it (me too >.<).
This year my family will not be celebrating on account of my father's passing (it has not been a year yet). But you bet, we will go out for makan.
Ah! I went to get coffee. End of the week is OK to drink coffee after 1:00pm. After all, I need to be awake for date nite. LOL!
Then in the evening it was time for my dinner date with my partner. I don't want to eat carbo I declared.
So we went to the kueh chap shop. We shared a mug of Chrysanthemum (I can't believe I spelt this correctly at my first attempt) tea.
And a mixed platter for me. And my partner thought that I might not have enough to eat (just because I did not eat carbs). Haiz!

Dear friend, I love the quote! Your photos are beautiful, the meals look nice! Here in this part of the world in Canada, we use the term "take out" and "take away" is used across the pond. I find it interesting how different terms are used for the same thing. I find it cool!
ReplyDeleteAh, in the USA they also say to-go and I found this amusing at first!
DeleteI believe in the quote and it is true. That's why I believe in human connection, I do small talks with my neighbours or even strangers, if they are friendly enough and have a sense of humour like me too. I have feel good quotient sharing, even sharing and talking about world news or world politics. The kway chap looked good with the chili. I am glad you can to enjoy your ☕️ coffee/caffeine. The word chrysanthemum is already deeply rooted in your subconscious which is why you got it right at first attempt. Have a peaceful, happy, productive, healthy and safe day ahead!
ReplyDelete*I am glad you get to enjoy
DeleteI agree! Human connection no matter how small is important. Even just a kindly smile can make someone's day. One of my brothers had trouble pronouncing chrysanthemum when he was small. He said "kesemum" hee..hee..
DeleteLol about your brother. So cute when he was a small kid, is it bcos he thinking of "kiss mum" hah hah
DeleteIt's more of a case of the other way round...his bowl of kueh chap may not seem enough for him...lol!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Ya, I thought so too! He probably needed two bowls hee..hee..
DeleteDid you cukai any ngaku at your brother's house? I think not since u don't want to eat carb 😀
ReplyDeleteI see that plate of kuey chap I am also worried the amount is not enough for you. Not that much on the plate.
Oh no, I might end up cukai the whole bottle LOL! That plate of food was enough for me, quite full after eating.
DeleteLast year I didn't eat any ngaku. After looking at your photos, this year I am tempted to eat some ngaku but once a container is opened, I know I won't be able to stop, 😂
ReplyDeleteWah, you are so good. I also did not eat. It is very dangerous because as you said, once opened will surely eat the whole thing!
