Long Weekend

Thank God for long weekends, right?

I love long weekends not because it is perfect for going for a holiday (that's what my neighbor did) but to get my housekeeping and gardening done. So sad, right? LOL!

No lah. Not sad. I love staying at home. And the best holiday for me is spending time in the garden.

My Jasmine plant produced another bloom.

The scent was lovely.

Ah Boi is very affectionate these days. When I open the front door, she is the one who races home and starts whining for attention (or maybe for snacks). When she does that, I pick her up for a cuddle and she purrs with pleasure.

She was very kaypoh when I was trimming my plants. So I had to distract her. The big box in the background helped.

When she got tired of the box, she chilled out on the wall. Ah Boi has grown into a black beauty.

Meantime, Kittie Kat and Poodie were having a wrestling session.

Mother and daughter were slugging it out.

Haiz!

This is my Poodie taking a breather after her vigorous session with her mama.

On Sunday at Aeon, my partner checked with me again if we should get a box of mooncakes for my mum.

Mum had reminded me to tell him not to buy any because "those things are all sugar and so expensive". So I told my partner, no, mum does want mooncakes. We did not buy any for ourselves either for the very same reasons that mum gave hah..hah...

Choi Yen left me a comment that she could not get Salt Sense spices at Aeon. I used to find these salts (but not other Salt Sense products) at the spice aisle.

But well, well, I found these.

So now I can get these at Aeon.

I also took the time to make kimchi. My mum enjoys kimchi (she said it helped with her tummy issues) and even my partner is now eating kimchi

I fasted (which I was not doing very much of late) and to break the fast, I made myself this very delicious minced beef and eggs cheesebake.

The recipe is similar to the meat muffins except that everything is dumped into a baking dish and not into a muffin tin.

This time instead of buying pre-grated cheese, I bought a small block of mild cheddar and grated the cheese myself.

The cheese melts much better compared to the pre-grated ones.

For another meal, I air fried fatty beef trimmings.

These were seasoned with some spices and garlic salt.

Do you think display of calorie content of food is useful? I don't. Anyway, it's back to work today!

  2. How does the kimchi help your mom with regards to tummy issues? I would like to find out more as I have some tummy issues too. With so many man made and natural disasters, it is best not to travel too frequently nowadays. Nowadays I also seldom travel after travelling to quite many countries in the past which I find is enough for me. Hee hee. Thanks for the flowers photos. They look lovely. And so cute to see Poodie and mother doing wrestling session together lol. Maybe it is their way of bonding.

    1. Mum told me that she used to get upset tummy and lots of wind. After taking kimchi, her tummy does not give her trouble. I agree with you that the world is no longer safe. There are many risks when travelling such as danger posed by violence brought about by mentally disturbed individuals. Poodie and her mummy were playing since mama cat is still young (she is one year +).

  3. Staying at home is okay for me as recently I am into journalling, I bought so many stickers from Daiso and whenever I have the time I will journal about my daily life and sometimes quotes which I find inspiring. I WFH too so I have no lack of things to do at home. I also cook simple fare at home at times when I am not dining out. Of course I don't cook as well as PH. Lol!

    1. Journaling is very good. I also started but I am not consistent. I have to make an effort to update everyday. There are actually a lot of things that can be done at home, so for me (like you) it is not boring. No lah, I am just an average cook. Nowadays my cooking is very simple, just chuck the meat into the air fryer and season with salt once it is cooked. LOL!

  5. Happy mid autumn festival to you. No mooncakes for me this year too hee hee. I went meatless the entire day today. For lunch I had vegetarian chap fan with mock char siew and bittergourd for the dishes. The sweet caramelized taste of the char siew is offset by the bitter taste of the bittergourd so it was a yummy combination.

    1. Same to you! Wah, so many people not eating mooncakes LOL! Vegetarian food can be very tasty, some of the meat dishes taste like the real thing.

  6. Now because of late Tutu incident, maybe you can be more cautious by closing your gate with a wooden door to prevent your furkids from wandering and running outside (I don't know how your house is being structured). Hope you don't mind me telling you this and reminding because touch wood touch wood this is to prevent such things to happen again and you have to suffer another heartbreak. But then hor, how if they climb up the tree and escape and run out of the house via the tree (headache also).

    1. I appreciate your suggestion. Gate with wooden door won't work because on the left and right is the low wall which they use to go jalan-jalan at neighbor's house LOL!. I can only hope that they are alert and look out for cars. Thanks for your many comments!
