I have never been to Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant at SS2 but since they were on Grabfood, I decided to put in an order.
I ordered a Kimchi Jigae and a Bul-Go-Gi Dosirak. I wanted to taste their kimchi jigae and see how it compares to mine heh..heh...
Let's take a look at the Kimchi Jigae first. The box containing the stew was securely wrapped with cling film.
My partner likes glass noodles and thank goodness he can now eat kimchi jigae. Next time I must add glass noodles to the one I cook.
It is fiery red and tangy but not too spicy.
Also some small pieces of pork. Tastewise, quite nice but I will say that home cooked kimchi jigae is better.
There was also a box of banchan consisting of kimchi, beansprouts, spinach, black beans, long beans and broccoli.
The broccoli was stir fried with doeanjang (fermented soy beans) and the smell was very pungent. The black beans still had a bite to it and I would have preferred it more tender.
The Bul-Go-Gi Dosirak (this lunchbox item is only available for lunch on weekdays) had the same banchan of kimchi, spinach, beansprouts and long beans but no broccoli and black beans. Instead there was a container of salad and soup and an accompanying cabbage side dish in the lunchbox.
Overall, a very filling meal and I am very sure the experience would be way better had we been able to dine in. I'll bookmark Daorae for future date nites (when dine-in is allowed)!
i have dined in Daorae several times but yet to try their bulgogi dosirak. We usually go for the BBQ meats, pajeon and kimchi soups. I shall try their bulgogi next time!
ReplyDeleteI see! I would like to try the BBQ too. That one I must bring my brother once dine-in allowed.
DeleteWhen I read your sentence: "I wanted to taste their kimchi jigae and see how it compares to mine heh..heh...", I wanted to tell you, of course your home cooked kimchi jigae is so much better la with all the liew aka ingredients. Hehehehe, later you arrived at the same conclusion too. I also tempted to try their bulgogi dosirak after reading your review. I agree with you on this - Belle Belle, no more overnight party outside for you, please be a good girl and play with your box in the house. Soon, you will be able to dine in. In Aug, dine in should be allowed. 🤞
ReplyDeleteThank you..thank you.. I am looking forwards to dine-in!
DeleteOf course, nothing beats your homecooked kimchi jigae, now dine in sg is reduced from 5 pax to 2 pax again due to the huge KTV cluster.
ReplyDeleteThank you hee..hee.. Yes, I read about the SG KTV cluster. Very unfortunate :(
DeleteGood that they did not put the glass noodles in - it will soak up all the soup/sauce and make it quite dry. Of course, like you said, home cooked kimchi jigae is better - you can add all your favourite ingredients, all the expensive stuff that will bring the taste to a whole new level. Oh? Your partner is not so into Korean too! Ahhhhh...he's my friend. LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! He is only into Chinese food but tolerates Japanese, Korean and Western for me.
DeleteWe've tried many places we've never been to personally over lockdown.
ReplyDeleteMe too. It's like a preview and shortlisting those that we would physically visit once dine-in is allowed.
DeleteThey really take the trouble to pack everything individually and nicely, very neat and clean. Belle got grounded and not allowed to spend the night out. Did Belle sulk? She looks very quiet.
ReplyDeleteI like the packaging though some would say too much plastic. Belle was not happy to be kept indoors because she likes to go out kai kai at night.
DeleteDaorae used to my fav Korean restaurant until I found another one in my neighbourhood that offer more banchan. Their delivery service advertisements popped up some time ago in my FB but I didn't click in. :P
