Pre-Birthday Lunch : Steaks and Lobsters

It's somebody's birthday this month! heh..heh... So a celebration is in order. Must eat something special lah, eh!

A day before my birthday, my brother and I headed up to Steaks & Lobsters at Desa Sri Hartamas. This restaurant is now two restaurants in one with Rasa Gourmet, the highlight being fresh seafood (you can see tanks of live fish at the entrance). I did read about this on Sean's blog.

We were a tad early, so we browsed the menu while waiting. The Surf & Turf sure looked good.

We were rather tempted by the seafood on the menu as well (sambal petai prawns, siakap tiga rasa and assam pedas caught our eyes!).

Everything looked so good.

They have nice desserts too. So what to eat? Since this is our first visit to Steaks & Lobsters, we had to have steaks and lobsters, right? We can always return for the local fare (definitely!).

As usual, our default drinks. After taking a sip, no, do not order coffee here.

My brother's latte art tak jadi.

We were served complimentary buns. These came piping hot.

The butter was infused with coconut and gula Melaka. We loved the buns but not the butter.

We ordered from the Surf & Turf menu and both of us got the Wagyu Ribeye Marble 9 with half lobster (RM279.90). After all, this is a celebration. So let's make it special. This came with a starter of Portobello Fries and dessert was Spanish Churros.

These portobello fries were very good, very crispy and meaty served with a spicy BBQ sauce. We really enjoyed these portobello fries.

Ah! The piece de resistance! Our steaks and lobsters.

The steak was quite thin and cooked medium rare.

Can they get it medium rare on such a thin piece of meat? Upon tasting, oh yes! Very tender and succulent. I took a peek.

It was medium rare all right. We were both very pleased with the Wagyu ribeye. If there is anything I can comment, I thought it needed more salt and pepper. The sauce that came with the steak more than made up for the lack of seasoning although I did not really care much for it.

And now for Mr Lobster, served with a butter sauce.

We were given the tools required to crack the shell and there was an implement that looked like an oversized needle to dig out the flesh.

The lobster was fresh and meaty, no complaints from us although we both are more inclined towards prawns, specifically king prawns (next visit!).

Desserts! Spanish churros (they were super crispy) served with a sweet sauce (I could not make out what it was) and vanilla ice cream.

We were really, really stuffed by then. So stuffed!

Outside the restaurant, you can see tanks of fish and I suggested to my brother that we must come back for the fish and prawns!

We noticed that Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee will be opening next door (yellow signboard). Renovation in progress at the time of visit. These guys are doing well.

  3. Ah, Happy Birthday wishes are in order for a September baby (girl)! ;) I'm sure I've not seen the last of your celebrations yet...hah..hah.

I'm very glad that after 5 years (and 3 posts later...hehe), you've finally visited one of my favourite steakhouses and had a good dining experience here. I've tried everything you had except for the Marble 9 wagyu...omg, wagyu is so expensive nowadays. If I were you, I'd probably order the wagyu and grain-fed ribeye..to share...and to compare the flavour side by side (also not so damaging to the wallet lah). I also didn't care for the flavoured butter and sauce in my last post (if they're still the same ones you had). By the way, what happened to the complimentary chicken wings...forgot to take pic? ;)

I'm also tempted by Rasa Gourmet's menu. P/S: I remember you not in favour of Uptown Hokkien Mee that much.

    1. Thank you! Thank you! Yes, there is one more celebration hee..hee..

Yes, took me a long time to get there! You see, my brother wanted to follow what I ordered so that we are not jealous of each other's plate hah..hah... Our order comes with only two complimentary items, so no chicken wings for us. As it is, it was already so filling.

That's right, I am not a fan of Uptown Hokkien Mee and I am amazed that they are spreading their wings to Desa Sri Hartamas. They have a fan base I guess.

  6. Happy birthday! Wah, what a feast! You deserve it so please eat eat eat and eat. One day, maybe I will get to eat here. Some butter do have a fragrance that I don't like. You can add more salt n pepper to your steak yourself, right? Happy birthday!
