Not too long ago Kris shared her container collection and then she shared her food prep which she said she learnt from me. I am so flatered hee..hee...hee....
She has quite a collection of glass and plastic containers. I was quite astounded when I did a stock check recently on my collection. I think I have too many.
That's not all.
Got some more.
And more.
Some are outside the cupboard.
And some in another cupboard.
And there's more in the freezer. Gah!
I stayed home last Saturday and embarked on an epic food prep.
I do this so that the following Saturday I can go to work and not worry about having to spend time on Sunday to food prep (so that I can relax and lepak lepak).
I basically used up what I had in the fridge - potatoes, capsicum, carrots, spring onions; and in the freezer - lean pork, minced pork and pre-soaked shiitake mushrooms.
I even prep mee goreng and ..........
..... mee hoon goreng.
I also pre-cook rice for freezing.
All these food are not for me but for my partner. I once overheard him telling someone that his health improved ever since I cooked for him. He even told my auntie that "my health improved because of her cooking". Haiz....flattery will get you everywhere. Tsk!
All these go into the freezer.
So what I do is defrost a container of rice and one of the dishes (or a container of mee/meehoon goreng) the night before and I reheat by steaming the food the next morning.
So how about my own food prep? That's coming up soon :)
Waaaaaah!!! Your glass containers could line up from your kitchen and reach my kitchen's door! I believe you will not stop buying as nothing stops addiction. It's like a drug! You need to enroll to the Glass Rehabilitation Center with Kris. I will visit you both. Muahahahaha
ReplyDeleteJokes aside, you invested your hard earned money well into these useful items for cooking. Most importantly your darling's health has improved. Health is wealth.
Aiyo.. you want to put us in the "siaw lang keng" ah? wahahaha!! These glasslock containers are very good and have served me well. No regrets!
Deletewah, you really have so many! did you do a stock check? 100 or 140? I believe you may be able to use all of them for a two weeks duration if you food prep for yourself and your partner. when you food prep, it must be like running a commercial catering business, having to cook so much food. I think about it also feel tired. good that your partner acknowledges and appreciates your dedication and hard work by telling his relatives that his health is better now that you are now his nutritionist and in charged of his meals.
ReplyDeleteI didn't count lah hah...hah... This food prep was for 3 weeks. If I could use up all my containers, I can go up to 6 weeks but my freezer can't store all of that.
DeleteYou've just put my pitiful glasslock container collection to shame (compared to yours) >_< That's why I say you should be the president of the Containers Club-lah...hee..hee! ;)
ReplyDeleteBesides your container collection size, my other question would be what's your freezer size? With the amount of food prep you do, you look like you have a standing room-sized freezer! :O You know, one that you can fit a dead body inside without anyone knowing...wahahahahaha! :D :D Your food prep for one (7 dishes x 3 containers each) makes 21 containers already. If you prep for the both of you, your freezer would be storing at least more than 40 containers! @_@ My freezer is so small, I usually store 10 containers (maybe 15 tops) at a time (luckily, I mostly prep for one), with space left to store my other foodstuff and raw meat.
hah..hah... I am a chronic collector that's why TM said I have to go into rehabilitation (he included you too wahahaha...)
DeleteI have a standalone freezer that I bought solely for this purpose. Yes, I suppose it could fit a dead body hah..hah... The freezer food prep is just for my partner, this one was for 3 weeks supply. For my own, I go only 4 days (or less) and the food stays in the fridge. So the standalone freezer space is more for him (and my desserts hee..hee...). As for raw meat, those go into the fridge freezer.
What? Us in the rehabilitation centre? Ok, I can just imagine us saying....My name is Kris/Phong Hong..and I'm a containerholic! :D :D
DeleteI wonder how many people will join us? hee..hee..hee...
Deleteur partner is so lucky to have this healthy meal prepared for him! I was astonished by the amount of containers that u have!
ReplyDeleteI was astonished too! Not even enough space in my cupboards!
DeleteI sure am glad I am not married to you. The food you cook looks so good I am sure I would end up twice my size! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI have that same set of various sizes with the red covers - my sister gave it to me for Christmas. Yet to use it though.
DeleteWhat a funny thought hah..hah...
DeleteThose with red covers I got from Cosway when they had a purchase with purchase offer.
It's definitely the highest compliment when someone like your food and polish clean everything!
ReplyDeleteI told Kris that I don't keep many containers because my storage space is very limited, and I'm counting how many cupboards you have for all your containers? 1,2,3,4,5,6....... lol
hah..hah... I have storage space in the built-in kitchen cabinet but it is not enough if all my containers came out from the freezer!
DeleteI believe the answer to that question is, "no." :-) I tend to collect peanut butter glass jars and then use them to make my overnight oats a whole week in advance.
ReplyDeletehah..hah... Hey, I collect peanut butter glass jars for my overnight oats too!
DeleteGood that your partner appreciates your cooking and that his health has improved. That is satisfaction coming from cooking for our family. Those glass containers look so gorgeous, i won't be able to resist them too!
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks hee..hee... Now when I see containers, I walk away. LOL!
Deletegosh - those seem like nearly enough containers to feed a kenduri perkahwinan! :D
ReplyDeletehah..hah.. possibly!
Deletefor once I agree with foodprepping...luv that u steam the prepped food and not use the microwave(killer)!
ReplyDeleteI find reheating using steamer is more even and gets better results than the microwave.
DeleteGosh! You do have a lot of food containers. You are so diligent in preparing food for your partner and yourself. At least its worth all the hard work especially your partner acknowledge and appreciate you.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am glad he appreciates it hee..hee..
