Pigging Out Again@Epicuro Uptown Damansara

My brother and I were at it again last weekend. We had another pig out session and this time we chose to do it at Epicuro.

This is my third outing at Epicuro which tells you how much I love this place. The first time I came here, I fell in love with the Lamb Shank. The second time, I had Lamb Shank again. I simply had to bring my brother here for the Epicuro experience.

Spaghetti Carbonara

We arrived at the restaurant slightly after 12 noon and the place was already more than half occupied. Epicuro opens at 10:00am on Saturdays for brunch. We had no trouble getting a table and as soon as we were seated, more customers walked in.

Ceasar Salad

It didn't take long for us to decide on what we wanted. I recommended the Ceasar Salad to my brother and he gladly agreed to try it. Before we came, I did warn him that the portion sizes here are quite small (by our standards, I have read some reviews that stated that portions are generous. Sorry, not to us) and it would do us well to order starters and finish off with dessert.

For drinks, my brother had the Caffe Latte while I opted for Lemonade.

First up was the beautiful Ceasar Salad. We opted for extras i.e with bacon topping and a poached egg. No, no, we did not share the salad. It was one each hee..hee...

I love the poached egg! And of course the bacon :)

Next the mains. My brother chose the Spaghetti Carbonara which came topped with bacon bits and a poached egg. It looked really good.

I tried just a little bit and found that the smell of cheese was too strong for me. My brother however loved the cheesy smell and taste.

The customary egg porn.

Though the pasta was perfect for him, he has tasted better. But no complaints, it was all good.

This is way too cheesy and creamy for me. No thank you.

For me, I opted for the Chicken Cacciatore which is a deep fried whole chicken leg with Marinara sauce served a top some spaghetti. I'll have to say that it was superb! This is a dish that I would not hesitate to order again.

The chicken was crispy of the outside and juicy on the inside. It's been a while since I had spaghetti and I was in carbo heaven.

After we were done, we found that we still had room for desserts. This dining experience was a lot more comfortable compared to the one we had at Morganfield's simply because we were not stuffed to bursting point (lesson learnt). I simply had to try the Tiramisu which is touted to be doused with copious amounts of liquor.

My brother and I decided to go for one each (no sharing!) and not only that, we added an order of brownies with ice-cream to share. Now you know our capacity for food :)

Sadly the brownies were dry.

The brownies came first. It was served with a scoop of ice-cream with a drizzle of salted caramel. I'm sorry to say that the brownies were hard and dry. Maybe this was an isolated incident as I had read a review about how fudgey the brownies were. But the ice-cream was nice.

My brother complained that the caramel sauce was too salty. I had to agree but I guess this is a matter of personal taste. It is after all salted caramel. In spite of the complaints, we finished everything heh..heh..

Complain punya complain,, sapu habis jugak.

My brother seemed happy with his Tiramisu but I was a tad disappointed. The sponge fingers were very soggy and the alcohol was too strong for me.

Besides, the Tiramisu filling was not as creamy as what I am accustomed to (I'm talking about my homemade Tiramisu). It felt clumpy and hard.

Again, I am sure this is another isolated case (or a matter of my personal preference) because I have read good reviews about the Tiramisu.

While we were having dessert, the server came with a big bottle of water and two glasses. Ah, she knew we needed some water to wash down the richness of the dessert.

Quite honestly, at first we were unsure what was in the bottle hah..hah... and upon seeing our worried faces, the server assured us that it was just water. Plain water. I was pretty sure I heard her say under her breath "It sure ain't Tequilla, baybeh!"

Gluttons, you and I.

The total damage? RM152.65 which is not cheap and not expensive either considering the good service, cosy ambiance and excellent food (except the desserts).

 Good food+good service+affordable prices = We'll be back!

    1. SK, the portion size to me is smallish lah. If you are a big eater, you will find yourself feeling half full only if you take just the mains. If you like pasta carbonara, this one is highly recommended.

  3. OMG, you downed a salad, a pasta, 1 1/2 dessert and a drink all by yourself. I don't think I've eaten a tiramisu of that size even. For me, I can only down a starter + a main or a main + a dessert (provided the portion size is not too big) and possibly a drink...and nothing more!

  4. What a nice name for a restaurant! Do you know that epicurean means devoted to the pursuit of sensual pleasure in terms of enjoyment of food and comfort?
I think I have a taste more similar to your brother. The caesar salad and the carbonara looks yums to me!
