A Hot Day And A Hot Lunch

Some mornings, Girl will meow (very) loudly outside the door.

MeeOW! Meee...Owww...!!! It always melts my heart and I open the door.

And somehow, she gets treats when my heart melts.

She loves Cindy Recipe wet food. This is a precious commodity in my house because it is pricey. I get this from Daco Petsmart at RM3.52 per can (member price).

It is terribly terribly hot everyday. Haiz

I was dragging my feet with sweat pouring down my face as I walked back to DU.

This nangka tree was full of fruits.

Do you like nangka or prefer chempedak?

Lunch was at Ke Ren Lai. I usually get ice water to avoid sugar (and save money).

Again I had Mala Pork Don and a side order of Fried Chicken Skewers.

Very tasty and yes, fiery!

I picked out the dried chilies.

Two pieces of the chicken were over fried and came out dryish and tough. But they were delicious. So that was a very good lunch. And I am happy to report, I did not have tummy troubles like before.

  1. Good morning 🌞
Girl is smart, she knows some day she can get a treat by meowing loudly in the morning 😸

  2. Ya very hot weather 🌑️ nowadays.
I like both nangka and cempedak but seldom eat them because they are very very sweet.
Mala pork is too spicy πŸ₯΅ for me. I will have to stick to non spicy food at ke Ren Lai.
    Have a good day 🌹

    1. Really cannot tahan! It is very tiring in the heat when I do my daily walks to and from DJ. I prefer nangka because chempedak is too "creamy" for me.

  3. Dear PH, thank goodness the hot weather hasn't hit us here in Montreal....yet! But it will, oh, it will. :( Usually July and August are the most hot, humid and intense...and the wildfires! I cannot stand it, it is not healthy. My heart goes out to you.
Drinking plenty of water and get into a cool space as much as you can! And I am sure you are watching your beloved cats as well, as they can get overheated. I don't need to tell you this, I know that you are aware, I am more mentioning it for any others readers who may not know.
Your photos of the flowers and your beloved girl are stunning!
I love the illustration at the end of your post as well!
Yes, getting ice water is better and healthier....and also we save money, because often the drinks can be more expensive, best to stay with just the food.
And your photos of the dishes look so good!

    1. Oh dear, you have hot weather there too! I always think of Canada as being very cold all year round. Thank you for your advice. I make sure to drink and to ensure my girls' water bowl is always filled with clean water. And thank you for your compliments!

  4. I am so glad you didn't have any tummy issues! Red hot chili peppers is something I avoid like the plague! LOL! Anything too hot and spicy I steer clear from! It isn't that I don't like herbs and spices, I just don't like it to burn my tongue or throat! I love flavour, but not the heat!
In spite of the fact that your fried chicken was dry, it seems that you enjoyed it nonetheless because it was tasty! That's great!
Overcooked food usually becomes tough and dry, for sure!
I love all your photos, dear friend. Thank you so much for sharing, and I wish you a lovely week!

    1. I am scared of food that is very spicy as tummy troubles can be very inconvenient when I am out of my house. LOL! I hate using public toilets. I also wish you a wonderful week ahead, Linda!

  5. Yes, I can fully understand why Cindy Recipe is a precious commodity...lol! Why don't you try Cindy in pouch form, the Essential Pouch, not Creamy Pouch. Maybe some not same flavours but I think it should offer the same good taste (and it's cheaper at just under RM3!). I've switched Poppy to Sheba wet pouch (around RM2.70) with some Cindy Recipe in between. She enjoys both! ;) P/S: I agree with your New Wealthy...except for a thriving garden...wuahahahaha!

    1. Ah, thanks for the suggestion! I used to buy those pouches online. Your Poppy is very lucky being the only "child" hah..hah... Oh, my garden isn't exactly thriving either >.< LOL!

  8. You know how I eat chicken with fatty skins nowadays. I will tear the skin out, chew them just to get taste and "shiokness" then spit, throw and not eat it. Lol. Clever or silly?

  10. Not into mala or overly spicy food for me especially in this current weather. Don't want to suffer after enjoy, like they say pay to suffer. But that's just me. Some people can eat really hot and spicy and they are ok and not fall ill or sick.
