Jujube Vegetarian House, Damansara Jaya

When I walked past this shoplot at Damansara Jaya after picking of The Star for mum, I noticed a new restaurant opening.

As usual I am drawn to the congratulatory bouquets.

It is a vegetarian restaurant - Jujube Vegetarian House. Ah! Our vegetarian friends in the Damansara Jaya (and perhaps nearby Damansara Utama) would be very pleased.

Judging from the red paper on the pavement, I bet they had done an opening ritual, firing off fire crackers.

Bak Kut Teh with Rice. I would like to see their full menu.

Specialty Creamy Curry Vege with Rice and BBQ Vege Pork with Rice and Vege Prawn Mee. Hmmm... sounds delicious.

I'll come by one day to try the food.

I have not eaten vegetarian in a long time.

I find vegetarian food very tasty, but I get hungry very quickly after a vegetarian meal.

Well, I shall report back soon because I am keen to revisit meat-free food for a change. I mean, why not, right?

Now I want to share some cat related posts that I found on Instagram.

My cats waited for me all day to eat hah..hah...

This one is a bit biased but I like it!

This one is to be sung to the tune of Every Breath You Take by The Police hah..hah...hah...

  1. Dear PH, wow, where to start??? I absolutely love the cats and thoughts at the end of your post! And yes, I could hear the song in my head by The Police looking at the last illustration and cat. I was singing it to myself! LOL! Love it! And believe it or not, that Tuxedo cat seriously resembles my dear Romeo who got sick and he was only 10 and a half! Breaks my heart, I loved him so much! He had beautiful green eyes and was very sweet, you would have loved him.
    The flower bouquets are gorgeous!
When I saw the name of the restaurant JuJube, I couldn't help but think of those candies I grew up with in the 1960s. I was not a big fan of them, but many children were and I still remember them when I hear the name...they were called jujubes. Not sure they are still around, although jelly beans are. I don't like those either, I find them too sweet.
Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend, and I hope you are having a lovely week!

    1. Linda, I am sure I would have loved your Romeo! I too had a tuxedo cat, Tutu who died too young. She was only a year old. When our cats leave us, they leave us heartbroken. Oh, I remember those sugar coated candies that came in tins! I used to take them when I was a little girl when I had cough. They are very soothing to the throat. Today is Friday and I wish you a wonderful weekend!

  2. So true...they're always watching us when it comes to food...lol! Since I fulfill 4 of the 5 criterias, I guess I'm doing well...hah..hah! Ah, so you do get hungry after eating vegetables like I do (and my hands would shake) when I eat salads coz there's no protein to make us full. Have to be careful though, vegetarian dishes (I find) are either deep-fried or heavy in sauces to make the soya based products tasty.

    1. Kris: not true about vegetarian food, guess you never or seldom eat vegetarian food, but just hearsay.

    2. Kris: we can choose to eat the heavy and flavourful sauces moderately (when there is a will there is a way), just like how our mutual friend PH smartly turned and elevated her meal when it turned disappointing hee hee.

    3. Kris : Power to cats lovers! LOL! Yes, not enough protein when eating vegetarian. I think if we chose the whole food "cleaner" vegetarian dishes (the vegetables, tofu and those mock meats that are not deep fried and doused in heavy sauces) we will be ok.

    4. Lotus: Oh, on the contrary, I used to eat vegetarian very often (once a week previously), so I'm quite well-versed with the type of dishes. Ok, let me rephrase (to be more precise)...most of the vegetarian food that I like happens to be deep-fried (like mock duck) or cooked with sauces (otherwise the soy product tastes bland). I tend not to choose stir-fried vegetables coz those I can get anytime from chap fan stalls.

PH: True that with the cleaner dishes...but who wants mock meat that's not deep-fried...wuahahahaha!

  4. I seldom go to specialty vegetarian eateries after I didn't join any lunches with X colleagues because I could just choose vegetarian dishes at normal chapfan places if I don't want to eat any meat.

  5. Hah hah the last one quote and illustration was so amusing since I know the song by The Police. So does it apply to all your furkids or only Girl who is allowed into your premises?

    1. Only Girl is allowed inside. But the other day I refused to let her in because her fur was dirty.

  6. Contrary to the belief that vegetarian food are full of unhealthy flour, that day I had mock soy sauce lean pork which was made of tau pok (and not flour), the presentation looked like real pork (so deceiving lol) and but the taste was tau pok which I detected.

    1. Tau pok are made from soy bean, bean in Chinese is 豆

    2. Some of the dishes are healthy and some may not be so good for us, ie those deep fried ones with lots of sauces. Usually last time when I eat vegetarian food, I try to choose vegetables and also tofu that is braised of lightly fried. Very tasty! I love tau pok in braised dishes.

  7. If you get hungry very easily after eating vegetarian food, you can eat them on a weekday morning for your breakfast or evening for your dinner when you are going light.

  8. Lovely daisy flowers 🌼 roses 🌹, I simply adore flowers and I offer real flowers diligently to my God every chor yat and chap goh. Same as you, I will be attracted to them too. The name of the vegetarian house Jujube in Chinese characters, the first 2 characters meant red dates, the last Chinese character I cannot make out what that is.

    1. Oh, so jujube is another name for red dates. I know jujube as those cough drops that come in tins when I was a little girl.

  9. Sometimes even if the food they served are delicious and yummy, does not definitely mean they will last long, a lot of things to factor in.

    1. True, I have visited restaurants that served good food but they did not have staying power while some with just so so food are around for a long time.

  10. Hope you have a good day ahead! My lunch was green curry lean chicken meat rice (I omit the skin), with purple brinjals πŸ†, green long beans πŸ’š and orange carrot strips πŸ₯• The meat was tender and all the multi colour veggies well cooked. Drink was ice lemongrass! I completed this food and beverage intake by 2pm so I will skip full fledged dinner and go light for my dinner hee hee

  13. I saw euphoric flowers in the opening ceremony bouquets of flowers, my favorite flowers are daisy, carnations and euphoric flowers which look like roses without the thorns. I actually don't really like 🌹 roses, so intimidating.
