Homecooked

My cooking these days is really simple and fuss free. Have I said that before?

I don't bake anymore and when I think of baking, ugh! My mindset is not like what it was before. I now think of baking as such a hassle. But back then, I loved the activity and it helped me relax. But now if I were to bake, I would be stressed. LOL!

This was lunch Saturday. A piece of steak, air fried. And the veggies were basically fermented veggies and some roasted tomatoes. It was my one meal for the day.

This was an omelette I cooked Sunday. Loads of onions, a little bit of minced beef and 4 eggs.

My big Sunday feast - pork shoulder (air fried), the omelette, chonggak kimchi, sauerkraut, kimchi and some rice at the bottom. Yes, these days I have rice without fear LOL!

The problem that I had with carbs was not the carbs itself (well, some of the carbs I used to eat were bad) but me, over eating and over indulging in (too much) processed carbs and Whittaker's chocolate bars.

Now I restrict my carbs to rice and sourdough bread (and whole food carbs like potatoes and such) and keep the portions modest with reduced frequency of consumption.

This was lunch Monday (my famous omelette LOL!) which I cooked early morning. The capsicums and cherry tomatoes were roasted Sunday and kept in the fridge. Very convenient.

At the office I added some sauerkraut.

Monday afternoon it rained. When I got home I fed my girls.

Poodie was done and jumped next door. Ah Boi was ignoring the food.

Ah Boi, are you OK? Why so moody?

Even when I placed the plate closer to her, she was not interested. Just stared into space with that angry look. But the next morning she was fine, eating as normal.

This was Monday breakfast.

Pork ribs and veggie soup.

I cooked lunch to take to the office. Steak.

Served with the pre-roasted capsicum and cherry tomatoes. All simply seasoned with sea salt. So good!

Ah Boi folded her arms like a headmistress when scolding the pupils 😂😹 one of your neighbours could have fed her so she was not hungry so she didn't eat. Did Girl help Ah Boi to finish her food?

    1. LOL on Ah Boi acting like a strict headmistress! Perhaps you are right, Ah Boi could have eaten at one of the neighbor's and hence not hungry. There were leftovers, so I kept in the fridge.

  4. I'm so glad that carbs is no longer your "enemy"...lol! Carbs are not "bad" as I've always "preached"...but we're the ones who are...by overindulging and eating too big a portion. I've always tried to keep the portions controlled by eating half a bowl of rice, less noodles and bread (choosing wholemeal/sourdough as much as I can) too. Your steak lunch for the office is colourful and delicious. P/S: Poppy is also like that, sometimes she has less of an appetite. Perhaps Ah Boi had a handout from somewhere and was not hungry.

    3. Kris : Carbs seem to be the scapegoat for all our weight problems LOL! Indeed we can enjoy carbs, the right ones, and in sensible portions and we will be OK. I find that walking after a carb meal is very effective in maintaining my waistline. Ah, your Poppy girl is also like that, less appetite some days. I also suspected that Ah Boi got handouts from the nice neighbors.
