Delicious Kebabs

Last Friday I played handyman at my brother's house.

My brother is very busy, so I helped to replace a broken toilet seat. Prior to that I got a tutorial from my partner.

So now I know how to change a toilet seat. A very useful skill heh...heh...

Before going to the house, I went to Twins Signature Roast Duck to buy duck rice for mum.

While waiting for the duck rice, I took a photo of the cute cat figurines.

I think this little fella is the God of Prosperity.

After a nice chit chat with mum (who was very impressed with my work in the toilet LOL!) I made my way to Antipodean. That's something to look forward to Fridays.

This escalator was finally working.

My Ice Long Black.

My poor Teddy bear toppled when I stirred the coffee.

This was the children's play area behind my seat which I mentioned in an earlier post.

My order that day was Moroccan Beef Kebab with Golden Couscous.

Two skewers of beef, turmeric infused couscous, two slices of tomatoes, yogurt dip, salad and fries.

I removed the meat from the skewers.

The beef was tender and so tasty. Eating the beef with couscous reminded me of eating biryani rice because that was the flavors evoked. I would definitely have this again, maybe I'll try the lamb next time.

Ah! A slice of Carrot Cake, why not?

The cake was not sweet and was well complemented with the (not too sweet) cream cheese frosting.

I loved this Carrot Cake. Eaten with no guilt hee..hee...

Right opposite Antipodean, there was a small display of books for sale.

Then I read this card.

It's extraordinary that the books are left unattended, relying on the honesty and integrity of the public.

You take your pick and make payment using the QR code provided.

I browsed the books but did not find anything to my liking.

I walked back to DU and I was sweating profusely as it was terribly hot.

Back at the office, I changed out of my sweaty tee shirt and it was back to work!

  1. Dear PH, I love the illustration at the end of your post! Wonderful lesson! Your photos are beautiful. Lovely flowers. How nice of you to help your brother fix the broken toilet seat. The cake looks very good, and I like the fact that it wasn't too sweet.
Books for sale...what fun! I don't know why, but I still love children's books and I am 69! LOL! The only children's book I actually own is a Children's Bible...the illustrations are lovely and it is easy to read and understand. (not that I would have trouble understanding, but sometimes there may be certain Scriptures that the children's version makes it easier to picture the scenario, etc.) I am sure you get what I mean.
Your beef skewers dish looks great!

    1. There is one children's book, fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen which I have in my collection. Well, I realized that some of the stories are not suitable for children due to the subject matter. I guess back then, people were not politically correct. LOL! Oh, I do understand what you mean by scriptures being easier to understand in the children's version. The Bible that I have is the Good News Bible written in standard English which is easier to understand.

    2. Yes, and I find the New American Standard version easier as well.
The King James is the hardest I think because the terms are different and we don't speak that way today. Example "thou doest"

  3. I see Antipodean has now joined your list of most frequented cafes (besides Red Kettle & Halla Holla)...funny that it has been around for a long time before you "found" each other...lol! ;) Haha....I do most of things in your illustration...except blame others lah!

    2. Kris : Well, thanks to my brother that I finally went to Antipodean. He mentioned Antipodean to me some time ago and it was his meal during the CNY that prompted me to visit.

  4. I know how to turn the switch (metallic one at the side of the toilet bowl) to stop water overflowing not due to toilet papers congestion but due to the internal technical problem to do with the ball inside lol! We learn something everyday.

    1. LOL! My partner also taught me how to adjust the water level but I am not so good with that.

  5. I understand your quotes and illustrations at the end. Like Kris I do most of the things, except blaming others. But I know what it means when it comes to "waiting for magic" 🎩 🪄 🔮 you have to work for a living. But my interpretation was, magic, dreams and miracles do come true and happen. Which was what happened to me during Year 2018 hee hee.

  6. I guess those books are second hand books, the topics are not so varied and they are not so good reads, that is why owner is not worried that anybody will just take without paying.

    1. Yes, you are right. They are second hand books. I was hoping to find something interesting but most of the books are more suitable for young readers.
