First dish, Stir Fried Australian Lamb with Garlic (there is an option for lamb). This is a none-spicy dish and very suitable for my partner. He seems to be loving lamb, something which he hardly eats.
Next up is the Double Spicy Stir Fried Australian Beef (the other option is lamb). Well, I requested for the spicy level to be toned down for my partner's sake.
Sure enough, there were much less red cili padi (bird's eye chilies) in the dish. The green chilies are not that spicy hot and can be easily picked out. My partner now eats beef, a protein he used to avoid due to (antiquated) cultural practice.
One more dish - Vinegar Pork Ribs. It was very tasty although the meat was a bit firm and not falling off the bone.
We had three bowls of rice that evening - one for me and two for him. Yup, I decided to have one full bowl of rice, after all it was a small bowl. I remember the good old days when the two of us used to eat 4 (small) bowls each at the old Esquire Kitchen hah..hah...hah...

Dear PH, I love ❤️ your illustration and message.
ReplyDeleteYour meals look and sound amazing, dear friend. I hope you have a great week ahead. 💓
Thank you, Linda. I hope you have a great week ahead too!
DeleteThanks for the review. If I ever go there again I will order the non spicy lamb stir fry dish. Have a good week ahead. 💕
ReplyDeleteI wish that they had an option for spicy or non-spicy. That would make things easier. Have a good week ahead too!
DeleteThe alternative to Australian lamb is local or another country lamb?
ReplyDelete“Stir Fried Australian Lamb with Garlic (there is an option for lamb)”
There is no alternative, only Australian.
DeleteOh, so your partner does not eat beef because of cultural practice and not because of religious beliefs. Well, it's good that he nows eat beef, so he can join you in eating good steaks...lol! When you say you ask for the spiciness to be toned down (for your partner), is that toning down those menu items with even "one chilli"? Just trying to gauge the spiciness levels here.
ReplyDeleteI doubt if he will eat steak LOL! He prefers Chinese style stir fried beef. Ah, that dish was "two chilies" and I had it before in its original form and it was spicy, tolerable for me but would be too much for my partner.
DeleteWith regards to your quote and illustration, for some, it may not be a short trip, they live till age of 80s even 90s with a hunch back, weight of only 20 kg and no energy. They don't want to live until so elderly yet they are unable to die.
ReplyDeleteI like the veggies in your first dish, I suddenly cannot recall the hokkien name of this veggies, my mom likes to cook them with stew pork etc and they are very tasty.
ReplyDeleteHigh five PH I miss the good old days when me and my buddy Jose can each eat 2 bowls of rice.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week ahead!
ReplyDeleteSee you tomorrow morning or mid afternoon.
