Too Sweet!

This was another meal in November 2025 when I was naughty and enjoying carbs like there was no tomorrow LOL!

I pretty much like DiYiTai Plus and I wish that I could dine here more often. For now, what I can eat (or rather what I choose to eat) are the omelette rolls and (some of the) ala carte items.

That day I sat at the seat near the door.

Because my favorite spot was taken by a couple. That seat is where my partner and I (usually) seat when we are on our datenite.

I selected from the set menu. I have been wanting to eat vinegar pork trotters.

The standard serving of rice is topped with braised minced pork, a braised eggs, a bit of bok choy and garnished with coriander.

The sides are standard. Mapo tofu.

Pickled cucumbers. I love this.

Chili dip which I also love.

The vinegar pork trotters were good except that I found it terribly sweet. I wonder if it is due to the black vinegar they use  (some are sweet) or if they added too much sugar or both.

So I won't be ordering the vinegar pork trotters again.

This is my default drink. Lemon Black Tea (no sugar).

As I was having my lunch, many diners walked in. I would say that this restaurant is popular with the lunch crowd. I hope they stay in business for a long time.

  2. Diyitai interior looks really clean and cozy. I seldom eat pork trotters because they are usually a lot of bones with not much meat. Good morning have a good day ahead. The quote is very encouraging.

  3. As mentioned before, I love vinegared pork (preferably with more lean meat, of course, and not trotters)...and yes, I believe there are 2 types of vinegar, one is sour and one is sweet (which is acidic vinegar with sweeteners like sugar or caramel). For this dish, most probably sweet vinegar was used and, of course, some blends are sweeter than others. That's why it's a dish I love but dare not order. >_<

    1. It is a pity that we can't enjoy our beloved dish because it is too sweet. Unless if we cook this ourselves. Well, I am too lazy for that LOL!

  4. This eatery sounds like a winner 😋
Pork vinegar dish is one of my favourite dish. I used to eat all the vinegar gravy but nowadays the gravy is mostly too sweet so sadly I have to leave the gravy unfinished which is a waste. 😢

    1. They continue to enjoy support from the lunch crowd. Yes, it is a waste. I do wish the eateries would tone down on the sugar. The gravy is actually very good since it contains collagen.
