I Had Brownies For Lunch. So What?

Why not? hee..hee..hee... It all started when the air conditioner in my office malfunctioned. Drat! It was blowing hot air. So we called in the technician. As it turned out, something in the compressor needed to be replaced.

It was difficult to work in the heat, what with the technician tinkering around in my room. I was hungry (it was lunch time). Even though I packed my lunch from home, I didn't want to eat while the guy was there.

So I decided to go out to run some banking errands. Then my mind turned to Molten Chocolate Cafe.....

Molten Chocolate calling a calling....
Then I thought about my lunch....oh what the heck. I went to the bank first and I saw something amusing above the cheque deposit machine.

Okie. I will happily go to the counter when I receive a RM10 million cheque.

Then it was off to Molten Chocolate Cafe. I passed by last month to look at the menu. So this visit was actually premeditated.

I guess it's the place to come to with family and friends to share a dessert or two over coffee or milkshakes. I wonder if a cafe like this which is so specialized can survive. I don't know. I have seen may eateries come and go in Damansara Uptown.

After browsing the menu, I settled for the Caramel Frappuccino and Brownies on Sizzling Hot Plate.

While waiting, I surveyed the interior. I like the lights.

They were like diamonds in the sky.

But not the furniture. The chairs are kind of bulky. Looks old fashioned to me.

I would prefer something sleek without restraining arm rests. It looks quite cluttered.
And one more thing. The chairs are slim fit. Very slim fit.

This chair is not for us fatties.

What if a customer with a more than generous girth walks in? That chair fitted me quite snugly. I had to be careful to make sure it didn't stick to my butt when I stood up.

I looked around to see if there was any other type of seating. No, all the chairs are like that. But there is a banquette seating, at the inner part of the cafe, so no worries. Members of my clan, please take note.

Ah, my drink. Very nice and very sweet. Too sweet for me.

I usually don't go for such drinks but I made an exception that day. If I was going to have a brownie, I might as well go for the kill.

Now these guys meant it when they said sizzling. Look.

You see the bubbles? Hot and boiling. So be careful when this is served.

A hot brownie with vanilla ice cream on top and some marshmallows swimming in the chocolate lava. And two strawberry halves. Ain't it a beauty.

The brownie was hot and gooey. Eaten with the ice cream, the hot and cold combination was so contrasting. I have sensitive teeth and the experience was both pleasure and pain. Time to use that special toothpaste.

This is pure indulgence I tell you. I was on a chocolate high. Wait. There's something underneath the brownie.

Some kind of fruit. I think it was a thin slice of pineapple. Banana would have been better.

All done, my tummy fully satisfied. I was in heaven until the bill came.

A piece of happiness indeed! The Brownies at RM26.00 is quite reasonable. I mean, they use good quality chocolate and you tell me, are we going to make this at home? No. No, no. Too much hassle. So we pay a price to eat this.

As for the frappuccino, we know that beverages have the highest margin. Since I am not really into sweet drinks, I will skip in future. Must find out if they serve water.

Yes, I'll be back. I'll bring my brother along and we will take the banquette sitting, thank you.

P.S. To Mun, who will ask the question "What happened to your packed lunch?" Answer : I took it home for dinner.

  3. You know, when I was in Loveland, there was once when I went to a steakhouse to order just their ice cream-brownie for dinner because I saw it the day before and it was absolutely glorious. The waitress stared at me like an imbecile when I said "No mains, just the dessert, my Asian tummy is too small for both even though I am a fatty". So I guess what I wanna say is, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having brownies for lunch (and dinner).

PS: I thought it would be "I still felt hungry so I ate my lunch for tea time".

    1. hah..hah..surprisingly I wasn't hungry. The brownies was very filling. I thought Americans do crazy things like eat peanut butter straight from the bottle, so eating dessert for dinner/lunch is not such an alien idea to them.

  5. I'd usually stay away from a drink with the word "caramel" coz it's usually too sweet for those of us who don't have a sweet tooth! ;) This sizzling brownie was probably made famous by Acme Bar & Coffee...that one was all over social media when it first came out. Glad you indulged....chocolate lovers will have a field day here.

  6. Oh I love the chairs in that cafe. That's what Starbucks always attracted me besides the good coffee. Their sofas are assorted and good to laze.

I agree that many outlets at Uptown come & go very fast. Blame parking problems besides bad feng shui on individual cases. You see how that Uptown developer just hacked and realigned the doors of One-U 2 weeks ago. They are firm believers that brought their success.

Suituapui : Don't worry, you and me can head to the banquette at the back. I think they do that on purpose, keep us fatties out of sight. We can't be good advertisement for them hah..hah...hah...

  13. according to my calculations, a 10 million dollar cheque would buy you nearly 350,000 of those sizzling brownies (which might make the cafe quite happy too!) :D

    1. hah..hah...that is a lot of brownies. If I had that much money, yes, I would allocate some for brownies :D

    2. At only RM26 for the brownies, RM 10 million can get more than 350,000 of those brownies.

  14. Hahaha, thanks for reading my mind and answering the question in it! :D

Yay for having desserts for lunch. Once I had cendol for lunch, hehehe. Like ewew I stay away from caramel anything as I don't like caramel as I find it too sweet and annoying when it sticks to my teeth.

I think I will need to bring a few people to share this brownie with me one fine day. :D
