Birthday Dinner@Skippys Uptown (CLOSED)

I had no transport for two days and my brother very kindly offered to give me a ride. How kind of him!

I spotted Skippys a while back (it is a few doors away from The Ship) and mentioned to my partner that we should check it out one day. But on second thoughts, I didn't drag him there because pizza and burgers are not quite his thing.

Coincidentally, it was my brother's birthday. So on day one I took the opportunity to buy him dinner and suggested Skippys.

We decided on an early dinner and we were lucky to get a parking space. Damansara Uptown is a mess right now due to the roadworks and so called beautification program. Traffic can be nasty and finding a parking space can give you high blood pressure.

Since we were not familiar with the menu, we decided to play it safe by ordering one pizza and one ribs. What? So little? Well, we were just testing the waters hee..hee..

This is the Pork Ribs in 7 Sauce. I don't know what sauces made up the 7 sauce but it was pretty good. The sauce was sweet and tangy but not quite the usual BBQ sauce. The ribs were tender and moist and we were happy.

Incidentally, I was craving for ribs because I have been watching House of Cards, where Frank Underwood gets his regular ribs fix from this guy Freddy. In fact he has ribs for breakfast. Sorry, I digress....

Just for future reference, these are the other items that we should check out the next time we go to Skippys.

I focused on the Meaty Pizzas and they all sounded so good. So I picked the Skippys Loaded because, well, it was loaded with so many ingredients. We got the 9" because the 12" would be too much (with the benefit of hindsight, we could have demolished two 9" tsk!).

It was loaded alright. It came piping hot to the table. Before that, the server brought us these condiments.

Garlic and chili for the pizza he told us. I've never had anything like this with pizza. And I tried it. One scoop of each on my slice of pizza and whoah! Nice! Garlicky and spicy. But the pizza itself is already delicious and it tasted fine without these extras.

We loved the pizza. The flavors were really good. I mean, all this time I have only had Pizza Hut's and Dominos. Those were good but to me, this one is way better.

For drinks, we were boring and predictable. We both had Iced Lemon Tea. I told my brother the next time we come here, he should have a beer.

After the ribs and pizza, we were nicely filled up. I think we could have eaten more but it's best to not overeat because I know from experience that we would feel bloated and uncomfortable afterwards.

We'll definitely come back again. And I am glad that there is a good pizza joint nearby where I can get my regular fix.

If you are interested, check out the full menu here.

  1. Pizza is my favourite, yums, the price RM67 is reasonable, after convert to Sing dollars, it is around S$22. With that price you get ribs, pizza and drinks, not bad wor

Me too, when come to drinks, usually I am predictable (ice lemon tea)

    Happy birthday to your brother

  2. This sounds like a Malaysianised pizza...with chilli and garlic condiments...haha! :D More so when I noticed chi yuk fun on their menu. Better still, I noticed got delivery but have to pay since I'm outside the delivery zone :(

  3. Good that they have opened a new outlet. I ate at their HQ once near the star once and like the pizzas there. I think 12" would not be an issue for both of you but two 9" are better so that you can have two types of toppings.

  4. Walau Eh! Pizza and Pork Ribs go well together to make me happiest! I have heard of my American friend saying 7 Mother Sauces before. I just googled and this could be the sauces >> http://www.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_7_French_mother_sauces

Have you bought a new bike to cycle around when Uptown's makeover is completed? I saw the master plan with bicycle lanes and Art sculptures all over! We will visit you soon!

    1. Thanks for the link so I don't have to google it myself :) I am not happy with the pavements in Uptown. Have you seen them or walked on them? I feel they are not safe for older people and small kids. The surface of the pavement is undulating and there are cracks at some spots.

  6. What a wonderful brother you have! Ummm...I guess it's your brother brother...not a cousin from the same kampung or something. Hehehehehe!!!!

Pizza looks gorgeous and the ribs look really good too. Now maybe I should go for ribs for dinner tonight.

Your other half doesn't like? I'm no fan either but will eat and enjoy sometimes for a change - otherwise, would choose to go for something Asian/Asean/Malaysian - more my scene.

  9. Ribs and pizza only ahh? Enough for you & brother? I remembered lastime, you ate with him also (and you mentioned you don't like sharing), both of you had more ribs that this time.. Same here, I would choose the Skippy's Loaded Pizza too.. Anything with the word Skippy's, I'll consider, means the house specialty.. Make me hungry already, now I wana eat burgers and fries and pizza and shakes for dinner already..
